While the first sneaker we caught wind of from the upcoming La MJC x UNDFTD x colette pack was a little bit more French leaning in terms of the colors used, the New Balance 1500 from the project gets a much more stateside look, painted with the familiar combo of the UCLA Bruins. That’s not to say that the French partners involved don’t have their influence on the model, La MJC’s work can be seen on the insole and the sky blue suede on the upper is rather similar to the tone most frequently associated with Parisian powerhouse colette. Bringing together Los Angelian and Parisian tastes to the New Balance is this amazing four-way collaboration among LA-born UNDFTD, Paris-based colette and La MJC, and New Balance. Dubbed the ‘UCLA’ Pack, this capsule features two of New Balance’s most popular current models in the trail-specific MT580 and the small-N 1500 model; both colorways are inspired by the two cities – the Blue/Yellow being a clear nod to UCLA while the Navy/Red/White being of French descent. The widely popular New Balance 1500 was selected for Hanon’s “Chosen Few” project which we first previewed earlier this month gets a nice piece-by-piece breakdown in this latest feature brought to us by hanon. Using multiple tones of blue inspired by the sea,the “Chosen Few” is built with deep navy European suede with a high-quality European nubuck on the ankle collar. US Wolverine sueded pigskin as well heavily-brushed nylon also fortifies the construction for a truly sturdy model, with the moulded EVA insert with Hanon’s Bespoke logo providing the ultimate cosmetic appeal of the shoe. The Hanon x New Balance 1500 “Chosen Few” will be available on August 30th at 5PM in-store, with special-edition wooden shoeboxes going to the first 50 customers, and an online release will follow on Friday, August 31st. Following up that ever so conservative teaser that introduced us to the project last weekend we are now receiving the first full images of the Hanon x New Balance 1500 “Chosen Few”. It only makes sense for the across the pond shop to select one of the more heralded models in NB’s Made in England lineage (the Flimby pick in fact coming as an extension of their ongoing Northern Sole theme), with the small n-sporting model getting souped up here with a shadowy section of greys and blacks along with a bit of navy for pop. New Balance is certainly a name that will be on the tongue of many a sneakerhead this weekend, with Concepts’ second go-round on the New Balance 999 threatening to one up their previous classic the ‘Kennedy’ on the same silo. As August carries on it looks like the collabo heat will continue, with well known overseas shop Hanon taking the reins for a bit with what looks to be a 1500 in the works. As you can see the details of the sneaker are still pretty slim, but if you’re familiar with what they’ve done before with classic running silhouettes then you can rest assured that the beloved small-N New Balance 1500 is in good hands. Japanese menswear brand green label relaxing had been relatively quiet for a while, but they’re sure to garner plenty of attention with two new sneaker collaborations on the way. Following up on last week’s look at the GLR Vans Era comes a look at a new team effort with the company they’ve most commonly partnered. The green label relaxing x New Balance CM1500UG is crafted in a buttery smooth brown leather so elegant it had to come with dual-branded shoe cream for maintenance. Sneaker News just showed you the fresh set of ‘Made in England’ New Balance 1500s for summer, and now thanks to the eighty-second (!) Pitti Immagine Uomo tradeshow which just closed in Florence, Italy, we already have an idea of what to expect from this model in the first half of next year. The NB1500 is back in its familiar suede and mesh build and one of the pairs even comes in that familiar putty grey that’s so strongly associated with this brand, but the white leather elements, black lining and ‘N’ outlines set these apart from the timeless original. New Balance has done a great job of expanding both the number of available classic models and their expressions, this latest set a reminder that not too terribly long ago, this silo was the king of NB golden era runners. And even with some ‘higher’ numbers starting to release with some regularity, the New Balance 1500 retains its perch atop the classics heap thanks to quality like these three pairs produced at the Flimby, UK factory in its 30th year of operation. The NB M1500GSW has ‘green suede’ right there in its suffix, which means the M1500VSW must be the violet pair’s ‘legal name’. And while we’re used to seeing this model excel in simple suede and mesh colorups, it’s the luxurious black leather M1500UC that steals the show thanks to its (at least for this particular model) novel construction. Check out all three pairs up close after the jump, and be on the lookout as they’re arriving worldwide at NB retailers like Up There and will be available in early July in time for the start of the ‘fall’ (Q3) season.
