The cross-promoting of Air Max colorways has been done for a bit, but this recently released ‘Essential’ category of the Nike Air Max 1 sorta “remixes” rather than putting on the entire suit. The ‘Ultramarine’ is a clear call-out to the first-ever colorway of the Nike Air 180, with the Solar Red hints accentuating that point, but the Air Max 1 mixes in two tones of grey for a fresh look that should have AM1 fans impressed. It’s yet another ’87 banger for Spring 2013, so check out the images below and get them now at Nike Sportswear retailers like Premier or on eBay.

Thanks to Nike Sportswear’s recent offerings, no sneakerhead is without a pair of Air Max OGs, validating that ‘Essential’ designation to other GR releases that have hit stores. Both the Air Max 1 and 90 were obviously well-received, so the folks over at Frenchy Store put the two shoes at the center of this creative stop-motion animation video, which features the Sport Reds and Infrareds running around the town and downing a cocktail in the process. So yesterday we gave you a nice showcase of Sneakers and Dogs in a contest put forth by Crooked Tongues, and the response to the clash of the cuddly and the deadstock was, without surprise, rather high. We wanted to give a little bit more shine to the Visible Air technology, Tinker’s brainchild that quietly celebrated its 25th anniversary as of last year. 2013 will be one year that Air Max 1 fans will remember forever, considering the sneaker will have released in hundreds of great colorways that shouldn’t leave any hunger unsatisfied. This upcoming April 2013 release of Total Crimson/Squadron Blue/Obsidian should be right up the alley for the AM1 hunters that love a little color with their kicks, as we’ve never quite seen Bright Crimson and the newbie Squadron Blue paired together just yet.
