As we’ve looked back through some of the most influential Nike Basketball designs over the past twenty years, significant attention has been paid to the progression of certain designers and how they’ve captured an athlete’s personality or the zeitgeist of the time. This next entrant represents the culmination of all of these forces and a transition into a newly evolved world as for the first time in 2006, Nike Air completely takes over the sole for a more durable and dependable cushioning solution than with a traditional foam midsole. The Nike Air Max 360 Basketball changed the game for explosive players and moved us toward models like LeBrons 7 and 8 with a completely uncaged cushion, and you can see plenty of sketches and early photos after the jump below.
