NIKE BLAZER MID The Nike Blazer Mid is a slightly altered version of the Nike Blazer High, the first of Nike’s foray into the world of basketball sneakers together with the Bruin. The Nike Blazer Mid features a smoother side wall on the rubber midsole along with a strip of foxing running along the base of the upper in comparison to the Nike Blazer High. The Nike Blazer Mid remains the less retro’d of these two closely related sneakers.

The Nike Blazer Mid VNTG gets back to its roots with this new foursome for July 2013. The fall season Vintage Blazer Mid Premiums skip the zig-zags that made the ’77s so interesting for summer, opting instead for the classic suede-n-sail recipe that echoes the original build on the first Nike basketball shoe. Each of the colors represented here have been issued multiple times in different shades, so Nike Sportswear carefully selected new hues with some perforated uppers. Black Spruce is the darkest green to date and Vintage Green the mossy-est. Gamma Orange is a rusty beauty and Blueprint gives us a new navy look. Check out all four after the jump, then pre-order before they ship in July from Titolo.

Nike Sportswear’s Vintage Blazer line continues to expand this summer. We’ve seen the ’77 edition go down a zig-zag path, and for the popular Nike Blazer Mid Suede VNTG, this ladies’ release marks the first time we’re seeing its vulcanized sole in a color other than pre-yellowed Sail. A few earlier drops had offered the gum bottom that these share, but coloring the foxing adds a new dimension, especially in this pink/red/orange tonal affair. Stick with Sneaker News for release info and to see if other colorways use the same template and check out more shots of these in the meantime.

There has been enough overlap between Blazer Mids and Highs over the years that Nike Sportswear has started to label all of them as mids (perhaps because none of the recent Blazers has as many eyelets as the OGs). One style that is very clearly distinct from the base model is the Nike Blazer Mid ’77, a style that adds a suede toe cap in addition to a larger outrigger support. This new drop makes them even more unique thanks to the first multicolor zig-zag Swoosh to arrive at retail following the Dunk High ACs that borrowed the look for their tongue tags. Expect at least two more of these zig-zag Blazer 77s coming up shortly, and look for this Bright Citrus edition first, as it’s already in stock at NSW Euro spots like SNKRS.

It’s exceedingly rare for Nike to issue the same style number, so when it does happen, we’re almost always looking at a retro of some sort. That’s partially true with this new Nike Blazer Mid Premium in Medium Grey suede, as an almost identical pair did indeed release just under two years ago. The combination of timeless silhouette and adaptive colorway means this is a style too good not to revisit, so Nike Sportswear swapped the tongue and laces to a tonal approach and has another one coming our way. Let us know if these subtle shifts make for an even better result, then grab yours at NSW retailers like Titolo.

Not every single new Blazer release from Nike Sportswear retailers these days is a VNTG drop, but the vast majority do indeed employ that series model for simple success. The latest Nike Blazer Mid release moves forward from the vintage charm of unfinished tongues and pre-yellowed soles, to a more polished look here in Blackened and Photo Blues. This white-soled Blazer Mid adds a leather lining for a premium finish, a detail you can see along with others in more photos below before buying at the only store that has this colorway: JD Sports.

Nike Sportswear debuted the canvas upper for Vintage Blazers last spring, then let it rest for about a year before new lowtops started to pop up this year. The latest is similar to the upcoming lows in their novel interpretation of the material, but unlike the gradient lowtops, this style opts for a more natural appearance. This Nike Blazer Mid PRM VNTG is pictured above in a black treatment that adds significant depth through the uneven dyejob that slightly resembles heavily worn denim. This pair doesn’t appear to have the same degree of sole pre-yellowing that we’ve come to expect from the VNTG series, so have a closer look at more details below, then pre-order this May release from Titolo.

With the Blazer expanding its range of Vintage offerings to an even greater degree this season, Nike Sportswear follows suit on the model’s other series. On the ladies’ side of things, the Nike Blazer Mid Decon Canvas takes on a new staticky style in black and Sail. If you’re familiar with the Blazer and viewing from a distance, it’d be easy to apprehend these as a nappy suede composition, but instead, it’s a deconstructed canvas body with a sort of reverse blizzard texture. Check them out up close after the jump, then pre-order your May shipment from Titolo.

The Nike Blazer Mid (or High, as this silo was previously labeled) made only one appearance on NIKEiD between the 2010 World Cup festivities and spring 2013. Last summer’s printed uppers welcomed the original Nike Basketball shoe into the modern climate of patterned uppers, a theme that carries over into the selections available right now. These new Blazer Mid iDs offer snakeskin scales on the Swooshes of otherwise monotone suede uppers. These give you the choice of adding the AB-style medial zipper, which strips out the medial Swooshes and reflects the Blazer Low iD’s potential for the ‘naked’ perfed Swoosh outline instead of any texture. Check out all the different arrangements and let us know if you come up with a great design of your own.
