How far is Nike’s Innovation Kitchen willing to push the envelope? How about a retail release for a couple of Kevlar-reinforced military boots that’ve been Frankenstein’d with one of the running world’s most advanced space-foam cushioning platforms! The Nike LunaRacer SFB has just arrived at select retailers in British Khaki and Dark Army colorways featuring Nike+-equipped LunarLon outsoles. The Nike Special Field Boot hit NIKEiD a short while back, and while the Swoosh’s online customization service provided camouflage and color options to fit your own personal tastes, the Free-inspired sole remained this model’s only choice to date. Perhaps one day soon we’ll have another selection available in that process, because pictured above is the first step in that direction, the Nike Lunaracer SFB. This model replaces the barefoot-like bottoms for a LunarLon cushion borrowed from the series that first launched Nike’s Lunar foam four years ago in conjunction with the Beijing Olympics. The London Games are right around the corner, which suggests additional courses from the Nike Innovation Kitchen, so stick with Sneaker News to stay up to date and inspect some additional Lunaracer SFB images in the meantime.
