Vans beat every other sneaker brand to the boat shoe, and though Michael Jordan and Tinker Hatfield might have something to say about it, they were the first to embrace wingtip styling on their classics as well. Off the Wall has been embellishing their styles with brogue perforations for years now, and the latest effort broadens the base with a couple of new silhouettes in use. The Vans California Era ‘Brogue’ was established early in the FA12 season and gets a new all-red leather getup to coincide with the release of black Slip-Ons and Switchbacks. These are expected in stores next month and you can see more photos below, then be sure to check back with Sneaker News for all the latest vans drops.

Sneakerheads have long recognized Tokyo as one of the world’s key centers of influence, and now this new trio from the brand most singularly associated with California, USA shines light on a couple of other Japanese cities as well. The Vans “City Pack” brings together four-colored corduroy looks on the Vans Slip-On (Sendai), Era (Hakata) and Chukka Boot (Tokyo), each blocked in a similar asymmetrical style. Each pair’s insoles and box note their city along with the Vans’ classic ‘Red Tab’-ish fabric tags, and you can see them all after the jump below (which might be the only time, given the limited overseas availability).

Vans California just issued a ’2-Tone’ pack of Deconstructed Era lowtops, but when you consider their output over the years, that’s a name that could have been applied to countless releases. It’s the same deal with this new ’3-Tone’ trio, though you do get the sense that these pairs are united, even while spread across two different silhouettes differing on key details. The Vans Era and 106 utilize similarly simple palettes, but the former goes for suede and ticked ‘nautical’ laces while the latter opts for an all-canvas build and traditional flat laces. These are available now wherever Vans Classics are sold, so have a closer look and let us know which pair catches your eye.

Following up on the classy navy/burgundy and black/grey editions comes a new Vans Era Decon from the California Collection in a golden yellow/brown mix. The color names Boulder and Melbourne remind us of Vans’ widespread influence and suggest that these would work perfectly in a variety of applications, and you can see more after the jump before grabbing a pair from The General.

In discussing the California collection’s Era Decon lowtop last week, we noted that once you strip out enough of that model’s distinctive padding, you end up with a design almost indistinguishable from the Authentic. Here are a couple of new pairs that more equitably split the difference, as the Vans Era Lo Pro finds a middle ground between ‘Era as Authentic’ and the classic ankle-padded design. Pewter/henna and purple/dune colorways both also feature a slightly thinner waffle sole to complete the low-profile look, and you’ll find both available now at select Off the Wall retailers including the DQM for Vans General.

The Vans Era silhouette has already been appropriated for use in countless themed releases, but this latest one puts a new twist on the idea of ‘repurposing’. Coming courtesy of the California collection, these new Repurposed Era lowtops are constructed of post-consumer materials like surplus Army bags and vintage denim overalls. The result is a couple of Urban Outfitters exclusive releases that have an undeniable rugged charm and some serious 1 of 1 appeal thanks to irregularities in the material stock. Check out olive and denim pairs after the jump, let us know which looks best and if you can think of another pre-used material that’d make for a dope sneaker design.
