What happens when you combine New Balance’s most widely distributed silhouette with elements from what is perhaps their most beautiful classic runner? The New Balance 1574 Sonic is all at once exactly what you’d think and something totally unfamiliar, its upper patterned after the 574 but made strange by sonic welding and diagonal ventilation channels running the entire black upper. Combine that with elements from the elegant 1500 and you’ve got one of the more interesting NB releases in recent months and seems to point to more hybrid mashups from the Boston-based brand.
