Most noteworthy in recent years for its Ronnie Fieg-designed collaborative releases, the Asics Gel Lyte III becomes the latest sneaker to arrive at this year’s Independence Day party. But it’s not the United States’ independence that appears to be the theme of this release, rather, ten days later when the French celebrate a similar occasion on Bastille day. The GL III ‘White Directoire Blue’ gets its nickname from the ‘directors’ who held executive power in France prior to the rise of Napoleon. They’re done in red and tonal blue suede with white mesh and midsole and just popped up at Switzerland’s Titolo.
