Veteran slugger Jim Thome stands on the verge of joining baseball’s ‘600 Club’, and though MLB’s offensive numbers have taken on an offensive connotation to many of the game’s purists, this remains one accomplishment you can’t just achieve with a little help from a doctor’s script.  In fact, the kind of sustained brilliance necessary to attain the magic 600 home runs is a big reason why Ken Griffey Jr. will be more fondly remembered than some of the guys who have also recently placed high on the career homers list.  Griffey’s irreproachable image and jaw-dropping athleticism mean that even if Sammy Sosa corks a bat in the forest and no one hears it, we all still fondly remember the late ’90s slugfest through reminders like the Nike Air Max JR.  This ‘Freshwater’ colorway recalls the original Air Griffey Max 1 from ’96 and just popped up available at NikeStore and on eBay.
