Further proof that you’re better off thinking of sneaker design in terms of modularity rather than being a staunch purist who stands against crosspollination: the latest New Balance is a classic runner turned trail shoe turned (arguably) even better trail shoe. And even with advancements like a sonically welded upper and deeply-grooved Free-like outsole, the New Balance HS77 still absolutely resembles the legendary 574 upon which it’s based. These three new colorways go for simple palettes like Leftfoot’s recent ‘Past, Present, Future’ collaboration, but a different colorblocking pattern suggests we’ve only begun to see what this model can do.
