Nike Sportswear has so many classic models to choose from in their Beaverton, Oregon vaults that a whole bunch of great ones have yet to see the light of day for a retro release. Few can match the historical legacy paved by the man for whom the Nike Pre Montreal Racer was designed and named, just as many would be hard pressed to come up with another standout distance runner who’s not a Kardashian in-law. But while Bruce Jenner took gold in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games on the strength of a win in the 1500m and a world record total, Steve Prefontaine neve made it to Montreal for his date with 5000m gold. So in addition to being a blast from the past aesthetically and technologically, the Pre Montreal Racer is also a tribute to a man who made the Oregon Ducks’ wings famous long before they blinged on the Rose Bowl stage. Click through to see this old school take on ‘bred’ and move quickly to pick up a pair from the only UK retailer who’ll have a part of the Quickstrike release: Size?
