Jordan Brand has so much power to shift trends in the industry, that it’d be totally understandable for someone to look at 2010’s Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Cool Grey’ release and all the copycat designs issued before and sense, and conclude that JB established the tonal grey blueprint.  And while it’s undoubtedly true that the influence in question is indeed at work, the most fundamental key to why studies in grey have been so popular is that you can create looks that are equal parts versatility and neck-breaking.  Take for instance this new grey Jordan V.9 Grown coming up as part of the March 2012 lineup: it’s crafted in Cool Grey with a heel of the Wolf variety, but nobody would ever mistake them for an AJXI imitation thanks to the careful inclusion of a Current Blue Jumpman and outsole.  With little tweaks like these, the greyed-out approach has plenty more traction, and this particular pair just popped up at east coast streetwear providers, Social Status.
