They’re separated by a single number, but especially in this duo where their colorways are also quite different, we get a sense for how big of a departure the New Balance 999 was from the 998. Both feature Abzorb cushioning and are supremely well suited to suede and mesh old school builds like these, but the 998’s angular design seems like it came from an earlier generation, especially with the 999’s similarities to the ever popular MT580 helping that shape to feel fresh yet familiar. Check out the ‘Denim Blue’ 998s and the grey and teal ML999GT after the jump, and if you still need to find a pair, check with West NYC.
