Sneaker Con DC July 2012 – Event Recap

Sneaker Con returned to the Nation’s Capitol for a third term this past weekend, and after yet another successful showing stacked with vendors and paterons, you can count on a fourth trip sometime soon. Foams were on deck, Air Jordans were aplenty, adidas Originals set up a sick pop-up exhibit, and one Sneaker Con event-goer pretty much won the day with his Nike Mag 2011 and matching Nike Footwear barrel shoebox (available via auction only). DC Event was mad nice. I wore my mags there not show off but to show love. Many people a couldn't afford to get a pair or only saw a pair behind a glass. So why not bring a hot shoe to a event like this. I go 2 pairs so I am not worried bout it. Of course people going hate but clearly if I wearing mags...but you talking bout me in your 95.00 KDs there is a disconnect of sort. It was nice meeting everyone out there.

Honestly most of the heat was on the peoples feet. Most of the displays and people holding up kicks were 2012 retros or just general releases.

Pretty funny that the Nike Mag guy had to bring a prop around with him to walk around with. But ill admit its pretty BOSS. Is that a custom job? I have not seen that BTTF cylinder shoe storer for sale...
@BlackAndBent I write commercials on TV and the people of universal pictures (same ppl who produced BTTF) gave the last prop from the movie

Coming from someone who attended. This was the worst venue ever to conduct an event as such. First off, it's located in south east dc the worst,most ghetto place in dc. There were bums laid out across the street. Keep in mind many walke around wih boxes. If you parked far off or needed to use the metro you'd better have had quick feet. The location was an elem school gym, extremely small and over crowded last year many people were robbed just a block away, there was police present this time. There were lines all day bc of the fact that you were in a gym meant for 5-12 year olds. The entrance price was 15, there were thousands of tickets sold and the tables were all sold out. The money was there, the even must be upgraded to a diffrent location this by far is the last place you want to get lost in DC.

The media hypes South East DC as the worst place and sooooo "HOOD" but honestly you're right about only ONE thing, all there is is OLD homeless people walking around and a bunch OG (really OLD) gangsters who just parlay all day and talk in front of a barber shop and wouldnt even be able to chase you down a block if they wanted to cuz they'd get a heart attack. This coming from someone who was there also and had a great time....YOU'RE A HERB! That exact address is so busy due to the metro and tons of traffic that from 12pm-7pm (DAY TIME) and about 1500 people walking around, NOTHING was going to happen. You're talking all this junk but DID you get robbed? Did anyone get robbed? NO. Were there fights, NO. The fact is if you knew anything about DC and this area, its actually up and coming, the Barry Farms projects are getting bulldozed by next year and a bunch of jews are buying all the property. You should call youreself Hen-p*ssy instead.
Cant wait for the next Sneaker Con DC, no matter wtf it is.
@Hennessy Damn, must suck to live in America? I was just reading somewhere that 2nd to 10th in the top list of 'murders per country' in the world stems from 35 down to about 17 last year. And the US is 1st with 4,980. WOW. Might be safer to live in Iraq? Doesn't say much for the 'land of the free' when you cant even leave your house. Or judging by recent events... cant even go to the damn cinema just to see a movie! You guys got problems. Gun/hate/violence/poverty stricken problems more specifically.
It was an awesome event. Lots of heat and I sold everything I brought because DC people actually have cash in hand. Got Scoring Title KD IVs for 185, Weatherman for 300, Thunder IV's for 750, and Galaxy Foams for 750. Way more deals but hey, I ran out of cash. If you missed it you're a loser.

Again, it was a great event with a lot of deadstock heat and opportunity for awesome deals.
