For most of its retro treatment in 2012 the New Balance 996 has been a strictly suede and mesh affair, with pairs released keeping things pretty close to that OG treatment. Perhaps hinting at a new direction for the new year is this pair that’s just released, which goes with a bit of leather for the navy panel wrapping around the middle section of the sneaker. Beyond that the sneaker gets a few quick bits of red injected into a base that looks very much like the original silvery suede look.
