Nike Vintage 80s Sample 05

Aside from all the latest updates on the most anticipated upcoming sneakers, the Sneaker News enjoys dipping into the past to the era when Nike was just coming out of its innovative shell and certain design cues could be easily pinpointed to certain eras. Bright neon splatter colors are a Nike Tennis thing, when the Air Tech Challenge line emerged, and super high-top ankles and such were definitely a late 80’s-early 90’s thing. So as we examine this unknown sample from the 1980’s, we’re looking at the designs features that might help us pinpoint exactly when this sample came to light. 1987-1988 looks to be a solid starting point given the cues to the Air Jordan II in the ridges on the heel and the upper-most lace eyelet being an Air Jordan III thing, but the midsole isn’t as much “basketball” as it is a tennis/aerobics sort of design (although the “pivot point” on the outsole indicates basketball in the post Air Force 1 era). The Nike branding is also an interesting observation, as a Swoosh isn’t used on the shoe with the exception of the tongue label and midsole heel. Any guesses? Check out the images below and let’s see if you’ve got any good detective work in you by looking at more clues from supremexheat on eBay.
