The Nike LeBron a headlines continue as we revert back from the enticing Nike LeBron XI news to the Nike LeBron X Low in a purely “summertime” colorway. Featuring a hot orange/pink upper with a bright green secondary accent on the lining, Flywire, and outsole, this “Watermelon” colorway should be a refreshing member of any sneaker rotation this hot season – almost like a two-toned take on “LeBronold Palmer”. A release hasn’t been confirmed, but woujld you like to see a release? Check out a full shot below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates on this great colorway.
all you guys are being oversensitive. the colorway is obviously just based off a fruit theme. it's just how you guys perceive it that's messed up. i'm pretty sure with all the black athletes that nike endorses, they would not do such a stupid thing by being racist.
@Da_Real_Big_Infinite But grapes are fine? We can't have a watermelon colorway because the fruit is associated with a stereotype of African Americans? F**k that noise. I love watermelons and already nikeID'd some "watermelon" Kobe 8s a couple months back.
No.. Grapes are not associated wit blacks... Blacks in slavery times only ate scrapes, lard based food (wat we call soul food today) & watermelons.. Why Cuz watermelons were 1 of da most abundant fruit supply in da south... Grapes have been around since roman & Greek empires. But when u think of watermelons, peoples mind will automatically shift to blacks... As well as chicken, collard greens & catfish... It wasn't meant to b a racial thing but they are undertones when u call a black man shoe color watermelon... U can even go way back when tiger woods won his 1st masters tourney. When u win da masters, u can then pick da meal u want to b served da next yr. 1 of da competitors said, " It looks like we are havin Chicken & watermelon next yr"... Son like I said, its not meant to b racial in any way but black people will find an undertone in it regardless
Watermelon has always been associated wit black people.. And lebron bein black, da undertones of da cw is kinda in ur face... I'm sure its not a race thing at all but blacks Seein a black mans shoes called watermelon, tend to think dat way
@Da_Real_Big_Infinite I feel you, man. I'm a southerner, so I'm fully aware of the connection. I just hate that a colorway of a fruit I love can't come out without people comparing to adidas' chain-shackle shoes.
