The Nike Lunar Force 1 High continues to get outfitted in all sorts of looks that break away from the leather typically associated with Air Force 1s, or even the Fuse paneling that’s been a favorite in the Lunar era. They’ve done it again with this pair from the so-called “Graphic Pack” which features a mixture of university red and black, although neither of those shades appear too bold thanks to that vague fade that’s going on. Browse full photos for this new pair of Lunar Air Force 1s after the break and find yourself a pair now from Renarts.

This year just might be the busiest on record in terms of floral sneakers. Jumping into that category is this new Nike Air Force 1 creation that comes with the slimmed down AC sole on bottom. The shoes have only popped up in GS mode so far, and we wouldn’t be surprised if they stayed that way given how often Nike Sportswear has pinned these sort of shoes as women’s releases. This week has been an interesting one in the world of luxury sneaker copycats, as Karl Lagerfeld’s New Balance lawsuit might have thrown a wrench in the game. Apparently not slowing down is Hender Scheme, whose premium leather remix of the Air Jordan 4 just surfaced. If you’re unfamiliar, the Ryo Kashiwazaki run brand has been at this for a minute, rebuilding silhouettes like the Nike Air Force 1 High, the adidas Micropacer, the New Balance 1300, and more. A History of Luxury Sneaker Copycats

saint laurent jordan 1 A History of Luxury Sneaker Copycats

Yesterday, news broke that New Balance is suing Karl Lagerfeld over a sneaker being sold by the German fashion designer that features an awfully NB-looking shape, complete with an “K” across the side in place of the usual “N”. That sort of appropriation is nothing new in terms of luxury brands though, and there are plenty of other pairs on the market that owe varying degrees of their DNA to more pedestrian sneaker designs. Legal activity in this realm isn’t an entirely new thing either – Jordan Brand previously chased down Gourmet for their tributes and even New Balance had previous a win in this category following their settlement with Louis Vuitton over a 574 ripoff from 2009.

In 2014, rappers are given sneakers with increasing frequency. And we don’t mean “given” in the sense of blessed with promotional pairs ahead of the release date, but rather they’ve had more and more opportunities to channel their personae into limited footwear collections thanks to the support of sneaker companies. This process didn’t happen overnight though, it took a couple of decades of endorsements before the floodgates really opened as far as special SMUs went. You of course have to give credit to Run DMC back in the ’80s for championing their adidas, and to a lesser extent LL Cool J for linking up with Troop (Although fellow Queens rapper MC Shan didn’t approve).
