Vans Syndicate has produced some pretty dope pairs lately. With weather motivating the design of the the Mountain Edition Mid, these Chukka Low’s are more of a geographic and historical tribute. Designed by Feal Mor, these are inspired by by French military boots. The “Land” pair has an upper made of very rare French marine camo canvas, while the “Sea” pair sports a beautiful french navy, both enzymed washed for a weathered effect. Battle slogans are written on the sides to further correlate the French military theme, added by Syndicate emblems on the back with molded foxing strips along the midsoles. Limited in quantity, these can be copped at Silo for $70 – a great deal for a dope pair to the collection.

In the golden years of sneaker culture, most of the philosophy was driven by a basketball fan base. However as years past and times changed, sneakers styles expanded and so did the people that influenced and supported it. And so, new sports came into the spotlight, becoming new inspiration to which causes designs and styles to multiply exponentially. Boxing may seem like a sport that isn’t included in this scenario, being that their athletic footwear doesn’t vary much from boxer to boxer. But Manny Pacquiao’s victorious story has certainly become something of legend. And so, as Manny fights Miguel Cotto in Vegas for a new title in the welterweight division, Nike is giving 150 lucky Filipinos the opportunity to a live screening of the bout. The invitation-only viewing will be in the city of Makati, Philippines. The winners will be chosen for the best 7-word story to depict Pacman’s journey to obtain a record-breaking 7th title across 7 different weight divisions. During the screening, it will be announced who was chosen with the absolute best entry, which will be awarded with a super-exlusive pair of MP Air Trainer 1’s, of course designed with a Philippines colorway. You can check the current submitted entries here. via kingcrux31

For those who have seen the original Reebok Pump (the Bringback in case you weren’t sure), or may remember Dominique Wilkins holding it down with these on, you may recall how absurdly high these high-tops are. A while back Size? gave warning that their big collaboration with Reebok was going to be something to not reckon with. As stated last time, their Pump20 release is really for the collector, only releasing in a colossal size 20, making it hard for people to rock these on a regular basis. But it only seems appropriate given the name of the UK shop and the alloted number of shops taking part in this collaborative project.
Now Sneakernews can give you a first look at some more images of their giant Pump20’s. Continuing to play off the “20-foot monster sneaker” imagery found on the previous post, the UK shop creates some nice shots portraying a gargantuan perspective using miniature models. Quite amussing. Check at the last of the images to get a true point of view of how big these shoes are, when comparing them to average sized sneakers.

Apparently Jordan Brand is moving into their second phase of newspeak-style brainwashing. First, they re-wrote the rules on hybrid design with the Air Jordan Force Fusion series and now they’re actually remaking the meanings of words! When they launched back in May, Project Bluefoot’s initial goal was to have the public “design the Air Jordan XXV.”
The July 25th deadline came and went, and since then, we’ve seen the finished Air Jordan XXV (25). Turns out, it looks very little like Tom Matic’s winning images, so while this was a competition, it wasn’t to design the AJ25, but rather, a nifty prototype that we would probably buy if it ever came out.
While both carry the Jumpman insignia and are quite sleek, Matic’s design separates the front and rear sole, features an essentially blank side panel and a unique hook instead of the top eyelet. One of the coolest things about his version is how Boreas and Notus, the Greek gods of North and South winds, respectively, inspired the sweeping lines, following in the AJ line’s tradition of wind/air(craft) design cues. Take a look at his 8.5 rated submission, along with the rest of the top 10 after the jump.

The cat’s out the bag and now previews just keep coming out of the woodworks. Adding to the list of publicly seen Pump20’s now is Barcelona’s 24 Kilates. For this installation, 24Kts wanted to stay fairly true to one of it’s original colorway, respecting the past and showing admiration for its inventiveness of its time. But what may seem rather unimpressive to Pump fans because of it’s simple “general”colorway, they certainly make up by knowing how to add some innovative touches of their own. Found on certain parts of the upper, as well as the tongue are translucent plastic paneling to reveal the actual Pump air cushioning technology. Accented in orange, white and grey, this feature is sure to be quite interesting to watch while incessantly pumping the tongue. As you may know, these Pump20 will be very limited (31 pairs to be exact) and only available at 24Kilates on November 20th.

Last month we brought you the first part of the Livestrong x Nike Zoom Tiempo City Pack, here we bring you the latest installment. This collaboration was created in conjunction with Livestrong and eight bike riders from cities all around the world who participated in the Tour de France. Each shoe is designed differently to represent the city of that particular bike rider. These last three pairs of the Zoom Tiempos showcase the designs for Berlin, Paris, and San Francisco. All three pairs feature a full leather or suede upper, with quilted stitching that wraps around the whole shoe. The Berlin edition seems to be the most unique with multi-colored contrast stitching. via SlamxHype

The last time this trio got together and designed a New Balance 580 runner, the results were quite flashy. The Full Metallic Jacket Pack went hard in three shiny leather models ready for war, but their recent teamwork has resulted in something more in line with the general tendency toward ‘maturity’ in streetwear. The Undefeated x Stussy x Hectic x New Balance MT580 ‘SMU’ has a name more complex than its relatively simple design. They borrow the black/white/gum palette we’ve seen several times this year, but send it in a totally different direction with the purple lining. Having a glimpse of Stolen Riches’ Pump20 yesterday, you might realize that most of these 20th Anniversary Pumps take on some type of neutral or gray pallette. Leave it to Espionage from down under to take on a different approach… a much different approach. The Sydney shop produces a Pump that takes on a futuristic-sinister feel compared to the rest that we’ve seen. A black and white colorway, the upper is equipped with carbon-fiber paneling, along with glow-in-the-dark speckled midsoles. A trend in these limited edition Pump designs, these come with a few lace choices- black, red and black with glow stitching! And just to remind ‘heads who was the creative mind behind these joints, Espionage branding can be found in the form of lace locks, custom Pump hang tag and label tag stitched into the upper by the anklet. It’s amazing to see how unique each of these 20 Pumps are due to the cultural and global locations behind the creative minds. via SnkrFrkr
