KidSuper Plants Their Abstract Design On The PUMA MB.03

The collaborators keep up the momentum on one PUMA's central models.

KidSuper Plants Their Abstract Design On The PUMA MB.03

Even amid shots from father LaVar, LaMelo Ball’s PUMA MB.03 is rolling on. While the news of the LaFrance Amour lifestyle shoe showcased how he can conjure up eclectic looks all on his own, the next edition of the shoe brings in some outside help all the same. Already tapping in for the KidSuper Puma Velophasis, the Brooklyn-based imprint is back to shine their signature print on fresh LaMelo Ball shoes.

Considering the explosive, flashy designs that have dressed past in-line editions of Melo’s signatures, the arty choices here are hardly out of place. The cotton candy palette both fits in nicely alongside and provides some pastel contrast to neon-tinged releases like the “Toxic,” “Inverse Toxic” or “LaFrance” colorways. Driving home the limited edition collaborative atmosphere, the abstract design extends onto the packaging, co-branded with KidSuper’s name and LaMelo’s claw print insignia.

Abstract face prints have been a signature of KidSuper essentially since the brand’s inception. The particular layout that paints the upper of this MB.03 release, however, is one that’s been honed in on in recent years. Basketball fans might remember the collaborative capsule they put out with the NBA where it appeared, underpinning jersey designs for the likes of the 76ers, Spurs and Knicks, pictured below.
