DC LIFE Spring 2011 Footwear Collection

The newest silhouette from DC Shoes was recently teased by Montreal-based tastemaker Marcus Troy, and apparently the Studio was just the first of a series of new lifestyle-oriented models on the way.  Check out these two new silhouettes, each of which is quite inventive, especially when compared to many of the derivative designs offered by skate brands these days.  The DC District 4 midtops have a layered chukka eye-placket plus ornamental wings on the ankles, while the Reset lows add mesh side panels to their tonal upper/white soled designs.  Click through to see two new colorways of each and look for them at select DC LIFE retailers like Atlanta’s Standard.

DC Life Marcus Troy Studio Session

If you were to compile an exclusive group of stylish and culturally conscious individuals, chances are the name ‘Marcus Troy‘ would pop up. The Montreal native recently hooked up with DC Shoes to create a personal My Studio Session – a project detailing the driving force behind today’s urban culture using video and photography while keeping the DC ‘Studio’ at its heart. The all-new DC Studio exemplifies the casual nature and unprecedented lux capabilities of a classic skate shoe, utilizing minimal branding, Bounce Suede material, the iconic DC pill logo, and a crisp silhouette. Marcus called upon six of select participants to help him out with this unique project, which you can check out below. Continue reading for the full video and let us know what you think of the DC Shoes Studio.

Complexs 50 Greatest Skate Shoes

Were we forced to omit the Sneaker News Top 30 due to conflicting interests, we’d have to place Complex.com at the top of the list of best sneaker lists.  The online edition of Marc Ecko’s flagship mag has done it again, this time compiling a compendium of the 50 Greatest Skate Shoes ever produced.  This inventory is an index of models as antique and obscure as the Vans Woodstock to modern classics like the Supra Skytop and Chad Muska’s own éS signature somewhere in between.  It’s quite a sight to notice how far skate sneaker aesthetics have come, from ’70s and ’80s basketball sneakers to tech-happy ’90s looks and back again.  As with any list, most of the fun is in checking out the results, vehemently disagreeing and then arguing with your homies about which ones you’d pick, so click through to see a few standouts and head over to Complex to see the list in its entirety.

DC LiFE BOOST LC Running Shoes – Fall 2011

DC Shoes recently introduced the BOOST LC running shoe as part of its LiFE Collection at the Agenda trade show last week. While it has a strong resemblance to the materials and cushioning used in a certain running shoe developed in the Pacific Northwest, DC Shoes has been pushing lifestyle non-skate designs for some time. In fact, skate brands have been taking cues from other popular designs of the past – take for example the Supra EE Avenger. How will the DC LiFE BOOST LC perform as a running shoe? Only time will tell, as these will hit DC Shoes retailers this Fall. Take a look at two colorways after the jump and let us know what you think. via HS.

Rob Dyrdek x DC Shoes Royal – Holiday 2010 Colorways

Judging by the massive ankle supports on these, Rob Dyrdek must have another worlds largest skateboard record attempt coming up.  Dyrdek holds 21 Guinness World Records he set while filming Rob & Big, could a 22nd be in store for ‘most padded sneaker’ for the DC Shoes Royal?  These joints feature a massive, cushy shroud around the ankle that’s held in place by a velcro strap passing thru the tongue tag, a look that’s one of the more ostentatious from DC Shoes in years.  Both of these pairs are done entirely in patent leather, with grey/neon and royal/white pairs both available at select DC stockists like Atlanta’s Standard.

DC Shoes Admiral ‘Please Stand By’

Countless sneakers draw their inspiration from TV shows and events, so it’s something of a surprise that the above pictured pair has come along and cornered the market on test pattern perfection.  How is it possible that we made it this far into the themed sneaker landscape and have only just now seen a design like the DC Admiral ‘Please Stand By’?  These joints are a perfect footwear representation of a few ubiquitous TV aesthetics, from the staticky ankle details to a colorful grid on the sockliner and moniker phrase on the translucent soles.  Click below to tune in a better view and look for these today at select DC LIFE accounts like Atlanta’s Standard.
