More than any other single pack in the early goings of 2012, the Nike ‘Year of the Dragon’ collection has taken top billing as the most impressive.  Not only are we getting the customary Nike Air Force 1 Low for the Chinese New Year celebration, but Jordan Brand will also capitalize on the strength of last year’s YOTR releases to bring the Air Jordan 2012 to market with a Water Dragon theme.  Zoom Kobe VII Supremes and Zoom KD IVs round out the group for the strongest and most cohesive Lunar New Year set ever concieved, and with the AF1s dropping this past weekend, it’s only a matter of time before the other three make it to retail.  Click through to see a video detailing each shoe’s dragon-inspired details and stick with Sneaker News for the rest of the ‘Year of the Dragon’ release dates.

Jordan Brand debuted its ‘Choose Your Flight’ marketing push at the beginning of the holiday season, highlighting the unique talents of Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony with the taglines ‘Fly Around’, ‘Fly Over’ and ‘Fly Through’, respectively.  JB’s big three all have their own signatures tailored to each one’s game, and now the Air Jordan 2012 comes through with a triple threat of cushioning options that brings all the ‘Flight’ options together.  Along with three cushioning platforms, you can choose from either blue or the almost boxing shoe-like yellow removable booties, both of which feature tongue emblems fitting the ’Year of the Dragon’ theme.  The AJ2012 makes a clear statement about combining luxury with cutting edge performance the second you see its distinctive build, and with six different setups in one box, it’s arguably the most complete basketball shoe ever released.  Click through to see more of the impressive three-drawer packaging as well as a variety of close-us of the shoe and all its components, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for word on the Air Jordan 2012 YOTD release date.  via Kenlu

Last week, Jordan Brand officially unveiled the Air Jordan 2012 ‘Year Of The Dragon’, detailed by a number of historic insignia and focusing on the significance of the number ’9′. That number serves as one of Michael Jordan’s lucky numbers as well as a meaningful icon in Chinese history. ’9′ is also the number of pieces you will see in the special packaging for the Air Jordan 2012 ‘Year Of The Dragon’; two shoes, two inner booties, three insoles, one special edition bag, and one oversized three-shelf box (nine pieces total) make up this year’s Air Jordan/Chinese Zodiac connection. You thought those Defining Moments or Collezione Packages were big? Those have nothing on the upcoming Aj 2012 Dragons. We’ve only seen a few colorways of the Air Jordan 2012 at this point, but it was clear from early photos that the upcoming Jordan signature model would feature interchangeable sockliner/insole options, similar to the Air Jordan 2011, and perhaps even more so to the recently released Zoom Kobe VII System. These new pics show off the super high-cut bootie with matching dragon-decorated ankle strap, clearly a bold new direction for the Air Jordan heritage line. You’ll need to see for yourself, so continue on after the jump for more info and images of the ‘Year of the Dragon’ Air Jordan 2012 and stay tuned for release info coming soon.
