AIR JORDAN XIV The Air Jordan XIV originally released in 1998, boasting a Ferrari influenced design that served as an homage to Michael Jordan’s love for motorsports. The most beloved colorway of this late-era Tinker Hatfield model was the ‘Last Shot’, a black and red pair made famous by MJ during that iconic moment where he hit the winning shot in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals to win the Championship; said shot would be his last as a Chicago Bull.

Should we have seen this coming? We know that Jordan Brand kids releases tend to roll in packs, so looking back at February 2012 release of the Air Jordan 1 Phat GS in Neptune Blue and Siren Red, we should’ve anticipated something along the lines of that release. Just a few days ago, we were blindsided by a GS release of the Air Jordan XIV that encompassed that Neptune Blue/Siren Red combination, but this particular pair features a white based and a faux-snakeskin toe-box and ankle-collar. A far cry from ‘Last Shot’, but undeniably born with the same heart, this Air Jordan XIV GS has what it takes to be a winner. Millenium Shoes is now reporting a refreshed stock of this release, so head there to get yours and look out for other Jordan Brand retailers to receive them as well.

On The Fence: Air Jordan XIV – White – Varsity Red – Black

on the fence air jordan xiv white varsity red black On The Fence: Air Jordan XIV White Varsity Red Black

The last few major releases experienced immediate wipe-outs of stock, with online stores crashing and intense situations going down at in-store releases. However, not all sneaker releases are projected to cause that sort of mayhem; in fact, some of them require a deep amount of thought that irritatingly results in a stalemate of indecision. Decide to pass? You might regret. Decide to cop? Suddenly you’re second guessing yourself. Sneaker News kicks off its ‘On The Fence’ discussion, where we place a spotlight on an upcoming sneaker release that is subject to this mental debate for some, giving you the opportunity to voice your opinions and hear out your fellow sneakerheads on the matter. First up? The White/Varsity Red-Black Air Jordan XIV, releasing this Saturday, March 10th – a clean, classic OG Air Jordan colorway, but a shoe that will likely fall short in the star power department when it comes to inciting campouts and any kind of release day chaos.

A little history on the White/Red Air Jordan XIV; it is indeed an original Air Jordan colorway, releasing in 1999 after Michael officially announced his retirement from the NBA (or, just the Bulls). He never wore them during a game, as the Air Jordan XIV as a whole only saw action for 1.5 games when Michael broke ‘em out for the second half of Game 5 and wore them throughout Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals, immortalizing the Black/Red colorway as the ‘Last Shot’ after sinking the game-winner with the game winding down. So, there certainly is enough history behind the sneaker – being an OG as well as a true Bulls colorway – but in today’s age where there are just so many tempting releases to consider, sometimes it takes a little more to get you to crack your wallet open, and that much is evident in the fact that December’s ‘Last Shot’ release wasn’t exactly a blockbuster hit and that the ‘Light Graphite’ is still available at certain retailers. It’s an interesting debate for sure, so let us know what thoughts are swirling around in your head and vote in the poll at the very bottom. If you’ve already made up your mind on the ‘copping’ side of the fence, there are some pairs available early right now on eBay.

Air Jordan 14 Retro – White – Varsity Red – Black | Arriving @ Retailers

February 29th, 2012 by | 39 comments

air jordan xiv retro white varsity red black arriving at retailers 1 570x381 Air Jordan 14 Retro White Varsity Red Black | Arriving @ Retailers

An overwhelming majority of Air Jordan Retro releases focus on Michael Jordan’s career with the Chicago Bulls, the Fifteen as of this date the only one that debuted after his second retirement to return outside of the 2008 Collezione Packages. The Air Jordan XIV Retro pictured above only sneaks into the majority by a technicality, itself never appearing in an NBA game after Mike hung up his ‘Last Shots’ in 1998. So this model finds itself in a curious niche that’s somewhat similar to the IXs and Xs in that you can’t help but imagine what it would have been like for His Airness to remain active in the NBA and wearing these.  Could the 50-game 1999 schedule have provided the aging Bulls an opportunity for the ever elusive four-peat? These are the kinds of questions we’ll never get to answer, which add an extra layer of intrigue to the return of the second OG AJXIV colorway. Click through to see more of this Ferrari F355-inspired design and be ready when these hit Jordan Brand retailers like Millennium Shoes next Friday, March 10th.

Air Jordan XIV – White – Varsity Red – Black | Official Images

jordan xiv white red black official images 1 Air Jordan XIV White Varsity Red Black | Official Images

Yesterday, Sneaker News confirmed the release date for the Air Jordan XIV Retro in the White/Varsity Red-Black colorway, bringing to light the thought of Michael wearing these during the 1998-1999 NBA Season in a hypothetical non-retirement scenario. Unfortunately, we never get to see MJ rock the Ferrari XIVs (these were, in fact, designed after Michael’s favorite sports car), but it still holds as much clout as any other in the legacy. Last seen in stores in 2005, the Air Jordan XIV  in the ‘Home’ get-up returns next Saturday, and these official images should be a nice buttering-up of what should be the marquee Air Jordan release of the month. Peep the images below and let us know if you have plans on replenishing your XIV stash with this latest Retro release. Can’t wait? They’re available right now on eBay.

air jordan xiv white varsity red release date 4 Air Jordan XIV White Varsity Red Black | Release Date

Had Michael decided to not retire after ’98 and continue on his legacy for a few more years, we would’ve had the pleasure of seeing this White/Varsity Red colorway or the Air Jordan XIV hit the United Center floor on a possible (and likely) 4th straight NBA Title. We saw previews of the Retro release for this colorway as early as last October, but finally, on March 10th, retailers will begin to stock these (some have jumped the gun and put them up for sale already. Barring a last minute change in schedule, you can count on these to hit select Jordan Brand retailers next Saturday, but if you can’t withstand the way, you can cop one right now from ccrichm on eBay.

Air Jordan XIV White Seamless

air jordan xiv white seamless 1 Air Jordan XIV White Seamless

Much has been said of this month’s runaway wildfire of heat, and not only have we seen a fairly extreme quantity of sick releases hit retailers in February, but a ton of impressive promo samples have come down the pipeline as well.  The Air Jordan XIV has been right in the midst of it all, first showing up in the ‘History of Flight’ look that’s one of the most limited of all the Fourteens ever seen, and more recently in a blacked-out seamless grainy leather that takes this Ferrari-inspired Tinker Hatfield design to a new level of luxury.  Today we have a look at a similarly constructed white AJ14, a pair whose subtle shift in colorblocking results in a much higher contrast but retains the top tier appeal.  These were almost entirely overlooked in the background of other exclusive Air Jordan samples photographed at the recent K-Pals 2012 event, but they can move right up to the top of your collection inventory with a bid on the pair available from btn_16 on eBay.

Air Jordan XIV – Black Seamless

February 13th, 2012 by | 14 comments

air jordan xiv black seamless sample Air Jordan XIV Black Seamless

The floodgates have now opened to what may be an epic showdown between two of the greatest PE/Sample/Promo pair collectors we’ve ever seen display their wares on eBay, and if you thought there wasn’t much more to see after the Air Jordan XI ‘Blackout’ and Pantone sample, think again. Here’s a look at an Air Jordan XIV sample constructed in a seamless, one-piece upper made of premium black leather; it’s got that dull, matte finish often seen on high-quality leather goods, giving off a similar matte-finish appeal that has been so popular on supercars these days (like the flagship model of the Lambo Reventon). The Black is painted with a superb metallic silver detailing on the heel bumper as well as on the visible midfoot plate on the midsole, giving this sneaker a true sneaker sex appeal that only a select number of kicks can truly possess. Just where does this sample fall in the Jordan Brand timeline? Given the style of the size-tag used, it is likely that these originally surfaced during the Air Jordan XIV mass-release in 2005. A detailed gallery awaits you below so take a good look at this sick Air Jordan XIV sample and see what the asking price is by visiting the auction from btn_16 on eBay.
