If you’re familiar with Frank the Butcher‘s sneaker output through his various Boston-based ventures then you’re familiar with the patriotic theme that often runs through them. His New Balance projects in particular have frequently embraced the American heritage of the brand, from the ‘Freedom Trail’ collection to the more modern New Balance 999 ‘Kennedy’. What we’re looking at here is a set of awesome samples from a three pair set of the New Balance 1600 ‘Liberty, Justice & Freedom’ pack, a project Frank was working on to be released through The Boylston Trading Company. The trio was to be dropped ceremoniously on July 4th, with the ‘Freedom’ among them being a strict friends and family affair. Unfortunately the project was eventually cut short due to some unnamed politics and red tape and won’t be hitting shelves after all. Click through to check out the amazing The Boylston Trading Company x New Balance 1600 “Liberty, Justice & Freedom” samples and partake in a moment of silence with us for what could have been.

Jeremy Scott beat him to the punch in terms of utilizing a classic Three Stripes crest insignia on one of his adidas Originals by Originals releases this fall, but has there been a more luxurious adi-collab in all of 2011 than those pictured above? Created in conjunction with the new Boylston Trading Co. online boutique, the Frank the Butcher x adidas Originals Forum Hi ‘Hustler’s Crest’ is a trio of soft suede classic hightops that evoke images of a goneby era with their gold embroidery adornments. Click through to see more of these and let us know how they rank in a year full of monochromatic kicks.

Cambridge, Mass’s Concepts is known as one of New England’s premier sneaker boutiques and they’ve been able to season a smorgasbord of collaborations with the kind of local flavor of which most other shops could only dream. From the various ‘Lobster’ Dunk Low SBs to this year’s superb New Balance 999 ‘Kennedy’, CNCPTS has a knack for conveying colloquialisms and coming up with something a bit more special than just your average guest star colorway. The same can now be said of one of CNCPTS’ alums, as Frank the Butcher has lent some of his childhood memories for the first collabo release from his newly opened Boylston Trading Company.
The BTC x adidas Originals Forum Hi ’Hustler’s Crest’ was inspired by a young Frank Rivera seeing street hustlers rocking a special makeup of Forums roughly two decades ago in his hometown of
Wooster Worcester. They stood out against the mass of Superstar shelltoes that dominated the Boston area around that time and stood out to Frank to the extent that over twenty years later, he was looking to recreate some of that fast life luxury with three monochromatic lux suede designs that add a unique gold and black embroidery to their lateral ankles. Check out shots of all three pairs after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the release date.
