CHRIS PAUL
Chris Paul is a Jordan Brand athlete and currently the star point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers. He has a signature sneaker line with Jordan Brand called the Jordan CP3, and as of 2012, he has five signature sneakers.

Chris Paul finished off one of his most successful seasons of his NBA career while riding the Jordan CP3.V. What moves will he make next year in the Jordan CP3.VI? For now, he’ll be in a Clipper uniform for at least one more season, so let’s take a look at three new colorways of Chris Paul’s sixth signature sneaker that we first showed you yesterday; a Gold/Black/Purple alongside a University Blue/Yellow and the Black/Red/White is what’s brought to us today, and clearly the energetic colorways outweigh the team-based versions by a 5-to-1 margin. What other surprises will Jordan Brand have in store for us to follow this year’s surprising releases like the Jekyll & Hyde Pack? Check out individual shots of all three upcoming releases below and let us know what you think. Photos: us11

This past season was by many accounts Chris Paul’s best yet, a lockout-compressed abbreviated regular season that saw the Los Angeles Clippers roughly flip their winning percentage compared to last season. ’Lob City’ has a whole new outlook now that they’ve got an elite point guard running the show, and Paul’s sixth Jordan Brand signature sneaker will be there as the Clippers try to make good on their dark horse contender status. The Jordan CP3.VI seems a logical progression from both the CP3.V and based on what we’ve seen from the Melo M9, a diamond-latticed synthetic lowtop whose patterns stick with implying the kind of layering we saw from Carmelo’s latest. Three vibrant designs suggest more wild styles in the vein of ‘Jeckyll and Hyde’ to compliment the Clippers-colored PEs, this new trio being called the ‘Nitro Collection’ thanks to its explosive Atomic Green, Total Orange and Metallic Silver builds. Just a small handful of games went down over the weekend, but what the NBA lacked in number, it overcompensated with heated competition and some new sneaks! The Los Angeles Clippers finally put away the tough Memphis Grizzlies as Chris Paul and his CP3.V led the Clippers to victory. Teammate Nick Young wore the best kicks though, wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Metallic Red’ to match the Away uni. On the other side, Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzles brought back the Air Max Tempo in White/Navy. The other LA squad advanced to the second round as well, led by Kobe Bryant who wore the ‘Lakers’ colorway of the Zoom Kobe VII ‘Dart Frog’. The East was already on the Semi-Finals round of play, as LeBron wore the LeBron 9 ‘MVP’ and teammate Dwyane Wade chipped in with the Fly Wade 2 EV. Paul George, who has been Kobe VII-friendly this season, broke out the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’. The final game of the weekend was between Philly and Boston, led by Rajon Rondo’s Zoom Huarache 2K4 iD. More of the NBA below, so take a look and stay tuned for more! Photos: espn

The First Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs is nearing its end, with two match-ups waiting for a decisive Game 7 to be determined. Kobe and the Lakers failed to close out their showdown with the Nuggets thanks to Ty Lawson’s career game (balling in the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Cool Grey’). The other LA team is still stuck in First Round limbo, as the Grizzlies staved off elimination with a key Game 5 victory. But six of the eight Second Round teams have already been established – one of them being the Miami Heat, who finally extinguished the battered Knicks in Game 5. To round out the headlines from the last two nights: The Sixers ‘upset’ the Rose-less Bulls, Tracy McGrady still hasn’t seen the Second Round, and Blake Griffin’s Hyperdunk Elites go under the microscope. Check out the highlights of the NBA from the last two nights and stay tuned for more 2012 NBA Playoffs coverage. Photos: espn

If you need some proof that Chris Paul is a different man once he steps on the NBA court, just take a look at a last night’s game, when he led the Clippers to a win by scoring 8 points in the OT period. The moment he steps off the court, he’s back to his jovial self, and that observation serves as the inspiration of the Jordan CP3.V ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ Pack that Sneaker News first gave you a look at in January. Right now is the perfect time to get in the CP3.V groove because four total colorways are releasing tomorrow; the Jekyll & Hyde Pack, which are built by inverse colorways of one another, and the Home and Away colorways of the Playoffs editions. As of now, it appears that none of the Jordan CP3.V releases slated for tomorrow will be hitting Nikestore either tomorrow (Jordan Brand’s appointed release date) or on Saturday alongside the three other big-name releases, so check your local Jordan Brand retailer to cop one of these summer-ready kicks!

The Jordan Brand Big Three spent a few extra days off this week to rest for the big stage, currently scheduled to kick off tomorrow. Out West, Chris Paul will lead Lob City against the tough Memphis Grizzlies squad wearing two PE colorways of the Jordan CP3.V, which shuffles around the Clippers’ crest of White, Red, and Varsity Royal. In the East, Melo and Wade will meet in a collision down in Miami, as the Heat invite the Knicks to their Home Court for Game 1 of their series. Carmelo Anthony will wearing two Playoff colorways of the Jordan Melo M8, while Dwyane Wade will make the official transition to the Jordan Fly Wade 2 EV (with a third ‘Cool Grey’-like colorway also in the mix). After watching the shoes in action, you’ll have the opportunity to cop the entire 2012 NBA Playoff Collection from Jordan Brand beginning on May 9th, so check out the gallery below and let us know which of the Jordan Brand Big Three has the best shot at the Larry O’Brien trophy!

Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers have slowed a bit after shocking the basketball world by surging ahead of their Staples Center co-tenants. Lob City is still poised to host a first-round playoff series, though, and Paul has all the support from Jordan Brand he’ll need to stay fresh into the postseason. We’ve seen a relatively massive variety of Jordan CP3.V colorways this season, and quite a few of them manage to blend with the Clippers’ patriotic-leaning color scheme. This new pair in blue and white would make a suitable shoe for both away and home games, but how do they compare to the red-heavy drops we’ve seen him wear most often? When used on the right shoe, patent leather just gives a sneaker the perfect amount of pop. Take for example this upcoming Jordan CP3.V colorway, colored up in two tones of blue (Obsidian and Varsity Royal) with a full patent leather upper. Another patent-leather built CP3.V that we’re all waiting for is the Jordan CP3.V ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ Pack that Sneaker News broke the news on in early January, but you can count on this Obsidian/Varsity Royal to hit retailers this May. Stay with Sneaker News for more Jordan Brand releases and updates, because we’ve got more coming your way!
