To some of our readers, the Jordan Fly 23 may stand in the shadow of the Jordan Fly Wade, with its similar name and silhouette. While the two shoes do share some DNA, the Jordan Fly 23 makes some departures from D Wade’s signature model that make it stand out in its own right. The most obvious is the added Jump Man branding, with one on the tongue and another large logo hit on the heel. The side paneling is also redone, opting for a swooping web like design. Of course the shoe was born largely from the Air Jordan 2011 technology, which is evident when you take a glance at the sole kit on the Jordan Fly 23. Hit the jump to get a full look at these and let us know how they stack up again the Jordan Fly Wade. Also stick with us as more info becomes available on this fall 2011 release. via in52

Dwyane Wade just got his first Jordan Brand signature in the Fly Wade this year, and though much of JB’s basketball roster is expanding to a biannual cycle, not yet for Flash. It’s probably only a matter of time, though, and in the absence of this expected release, it’s perhaps even easier to see the similarities with the Jordan Fly 23. The uppers are constructed quite differently yet the Fly 23′s warped-plane quilting flows in a style not unlike the D-Wades, and with their soles being nearly identical, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine these paired with the Miami Heat’s road uniforms. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on this Fly 23′s release date and if you want a pair early, longtime eBay PowerSeller Air-Randy is selling pairs via Facebook.

The upcoming Jordan Fly 23 shares a number of design elements as the Jordan Fly Wade, but the Fly 23 captures a bit more of an elegant appeal thanks to the unique stitch-patterns seen on the uppers. A closer looks reveals that these decorative appliques might serve more than a visual purpose, as it has a Flywire-like appearance to them. Two of these three new colorways feature the ornate upper, with grey mesh-based uppers, while the Black/Metallic Silver pair uses a solid mesh (with the ‘wire’ possibly beneath the layer) and flossy patent leather at the toe. The midsole is similar to that of the Fly Wade, using a translucent outsole and a visible Air unit at the heel. Dwyane Wade is on the cusp of adding a second NBA Championship ring to his trophy case, but it’s a bit too early to speculate on his second Jordan Brand signature sneaker. The Fly Wade just hit retailers and NIKEiD, and while the above pictured model is probably more of a takedown than a ‘V/2′, there’s no denying the Jordan Fly 23‘s resemblance to Wades’s first. The key difference here is the Fly 23′s use of a swooping quilted side panel along with faux carbon fiber around the ankle collar that gives this ‘Black Carbon’ edition its name. LeBron James has no fewer than five different Nike Basketball signatures at the moment, but given that he decided to team up with Dwyane Wade in order to finally win an NBA Title, shouldn’t Wade’s footwear offerings be similarly expansive? D-Wade just got his first Jordan Brand signature sneaker in the Fly Wade and now onto the scene comes a new model sufficiently similar that you might wonder if it could be a ‘V2′ or some kind of takedown model. But whatever its origins, the Jordan Fly 23 certainly looks the part of a performance basketball design, this black pair adding some extra oomph thanks to a faux carbon fiber around the ankle collar. Earlier this year, Sneaker News showed you the Jordan Fly 23, a new Jordan Brand performance footwear model that would serve as one of the pillars of the Jordan Brand Fall and Holiday 2011 Collection. It resurfaces once again and this second look reveals a noticeable similarity to the Jordan Fly Wade, Dwyane Wade’s first signature shoe with Jordan Brand that released in late April. The midsole/cushioning units are identical, and you can easily conclude that the design concept for both the Fly Wade and Fly 23 originated at a similar point. Is the Fly 23 Dwyane Wade’s second signature shoe, a secondary model to the Fly Wade, or an independent design? Let us know what you think of the On-Feet images of this Black/Metallic Silver colorway and check below for a preview of six other colorways that are set for a release, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more information on the Jordan Fly 23 as it develops. via NT.
