Though its exact inspiration(s) have yet to be specified, the Jordan Son of Mars pictured above manages to reflect its ‘Pop Art’ theme by applying playful shades of the primary colors. This look is vaguely reminiscent of corporate art thanks to all the major companies that use similar palettes in their logos, but the international concern that’s the most obvious fit would be the Olympic Games and its five-ringed flag. Consider this a gradual lead-in before Jordan Brand gets serious around the time of the London Olympiad this summer, and get ready for the release at select retailers like West on Saturday, March 3rd.

The ‘Olympic’ designation within the Air Jordan repertoire isn’t always a clear one. Just take a look at the Air Jordan ‘Olympic Pack 2012′ and compare them to this colorway of the Jordan Son of Mars and you’ll realize how little overlap there is. Of course in this specific instance the moniker is derived from application of the colors from the 5 Olympic Rings, a range whose tones pop up on the various accents of this new hybrid for 2012. The result is something pretty reminiscent of the recent ‘Bordeaux’ Spiz’ike, with the Frankenstein design standing out even more thanks to the less than subtle colorblocking. Earlier today Sneaker News dropped some information on some upcoming Olympic-inspired Air Jordan heaters for the Fall 2012 season. Add this Jordan Son Of Mars to that list, which just so happens to be the first detailed viewing of the Spring 2012 debuting hybrid sneaker; it features a wide variety of inspired design cues, like the Air Jordan V outsole, Air Jordan III upper, Air Jordan VI ankle collar, and an Air Jordan IV netting, all held firmly into place with the new lasered mid-foot strap akin to the Air Jordan XX. The ‘Olympic’ colorway utilizes the Olympic 5 Rings colors of red, blue, yellow, green and black, which should remind you of the Jordan Rare Air ‘Olympic’ that came (and went) in the Fall of 2010. We’ve got a detailed gallery for you after the jump so take a thorough look and let us know what you think. via air-randyhk.
