Much has been made about this year’s 25th birthday of Nike’s “Just Do It” slogan, one that so perfectly distilled what Phil Knight’s baby was all about. The Beaverton company has decided to re-introduce its mantra this year with a brand new spot narrated by Bradley Cooper and featuring such world famous athletes as Andre Ward, Serena Williams, and LeBron James. We’ve gotta say the spot ends up just a little unbelievable since it shows King James actually doing the dunk contest thing but otherwise it’s an awesome way to re-package the “Just Do It” campaign. Just last week Nike’s legendary “Just Do It” slogan turned 25 years old. The phrase has fallen out of use in the Nike corporate vocab since its heyday, but it still stands as one of their most memorable campaigns and no doubt one that familiarized quite a few folks with the Nike ethos. Shown here is the original Weiden + Kennedy crafted “Just Do It” TV spot, featuring an inspirational 80 year old by the name of Walt Stack who very much embodies the phrase, along with a host of the first print iterations of the slogan.
