KEVIN DURANT

Kevin Durant, aka KD and ‘Durantula’, is the youngest of the three Nike Basketball signature athletes. His Zoom KD signature line is designed by Nike designer Leo Chang; the Zoom KD is most recognized for its low price-point – a product detail specified by Kevin himself. Kevin is currently the star player of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and has won three consecutive NBA Scoring Titles from 2010 to 2012.

While we’ll probably never see the Nike KD Trey 5 II rise to the heights of the Zoom Soldier series in the LeBron line (for the most part KD has been wearing his seventh signature throughout the offseason and practices despite the UA scare) that doesn’t mean that the shoe can’t don a PE like Oklahoma City Thunder colorway. The latest pair dons an Away look, ditching the translucent icy outsole seen on past models like the “China” variety for a solid Photo Blue/Orange aesthetic. KD signs that $300 million extension with Nike and this is what we get – a new Vision Collection to help assist the reigning MVP in looking over the finer print of his deal. A few years ago when the Thunder were on the rise, they made a name for themselves off the court as well, between KD’s signature backpack and readers to Russell Westbrook’s signature style during post-game interviews. The frames are inspired by a vintage aesthetic and are available in both kids and adult sizes. With classic tortoise patterns, clean accents, and the signature KD logo throughout, each pair will arrive at select Nike retailers throughout North America. Kids sizes will be coming later in January 2015.

Easy Money: Kevin Durant Stays With Nike

kevin durant stays with nike Easy Money: Kevin Durant Stays With Nike

When the ball is in Nike’s court, expect a game-winning shot. A long tug-of-war battle between the Beaverton brand and Baltimore-based Under Armour finally came to a close when Kevin Durant publicly stated his allegiance to “the swoosh”, but arriving to a decision didn’t come so easy. Under Armour made waves with a massive contract that seemed too good to pass up, but Nike upped its original offer to nearly the same figures as laid out by UA and ultimately retained the superstar. Nike’s big offer accomplishes two things: it keeps KD with the brand, and it ensures its dominance in the basketball category by denying its competitor with such a huge asset. So what’s next for Nike and the KD? Expect new colorways of the KD 7 to be revealed (there’s already an “Easy Money” option coming on September 10th), larger distribution of the shoes and KD-branded apparel/accessories, and an eventual change in regime in the Nike Basketball hierarchy. Your thoughts on KD staying with Nike? Chime in below.

kevin durant staying with nike Nike Makes Larger Offer To Kevin Durant, May Keep Him For Another 10 Years

According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Nike has countered Under Armour’s massive 10-year contract offer to Kevin Durant, and the Swoosh brand believes it is enough to keep Kevin Durant for the next ten years (and perhaps the rest of his career). Exact figures of Nike’s offer haven’t been disclosed, but it is certainly more than the initial $20 million-per-year offer and more than he will be paid as an NBA athlete. We’ll have more details for you as more info emerges, but for now, it looks like Kevin Durant will stay with Nike and more KD 7 colorway will be on the way.. Your thoughts? Stay tuned for the latest.

Is Kevin Durant prolonging his stay at Nike, or will he move on to different pastures? That’s still the big question that remains unanswered this offseason, and amid reports of day-long stays at the Under Armour headquarters and KD’s recent push of Nike gear in his personal Instagram, your guess is as good as ours. What we do know is that his time at Nike has been more than fruitful; since 2007, Kevin Durant has become a huge star off the court with the help of the Beaverton brand, and the combination of Durant’s massive talent and Nike’s shrewd maneuvering that has created a true superstar in basketball culture.

After claiming he wanted to ditch the whole Kid Backpack phase and shed his nice guy persona, it’ll be interesting to see what’s in store for Kevin this season. Hit the click for the full video, and be sure to see if you can spot the Nike KD 7 “Calm Before the Storm” in the spot as well.

kevin durant under armour How Would Kevin Durant Leaving Nike For Under Armour Affect You? Our Readers Chime In

As you may already know, Kevin Durant’s original 7-year $60 million contract with athletic powerhouse Nike officially ended sometime last week. The NBA MVP’s value as a product endorser has risen meteorically since he first inked that deal thanks to his steady success in the league as well as his likeable personality, and the KD appeal will only continue to rise. What remains unanswered is the question of which brand he will continue to represent; after reportedly rejecting an offer from adidas, there are now two brands left for Durant to decide on, and his selection will likely be one that stays with him for the rest of his career.
