What would happen if you left one of Nike’s many ‘Tiffany’ colorways out in the sun, or maybe in the back window of your car for a few months? Probably something close, at least in terms of colors, to this dope new Nike Air Max 90 Essential that pairs grey and pale green Fiberglass accents with a navy blue leather/mesh upper. From a distance, they echo that classic black/soft blue look that’s enjoyed a resurgence in recent months, but once you look closer, you realize this is a new palette that is perhaps good enough to spawn its own imitators. Decide for yourself with the aid of more images after the jump, then grab this pair from the only store that sells them: JD Sports.

The Nike Air Max 90 Essential just dropped in two ‘Suede Pack’ releases. Let’s make that a third, with the former Air Max III taking on the rare all-suede upper in another color to join the Hyper Blue and Classic Stone pairs we’d previewed in February. This black pair is a surprise, but not totally unexpected as it sticks with the same two-toned colorblocking that keeps these simple beauties in line with the Essential series’ reputation to date. Have a closer look so you can decide how these compare among the Suede Pack brethren as well as against the traditional mesh-ventilated version, then grab a pair at Nike Sportswear stockists like Premier.

The name Matt Stevens should certainly ring a bell if you’re a loyalist of Nike’s original Air Max series. His Air Max 1 tributary book called the MAX100 Project displayed his personal favorite sneaker in one hundred different formats by his own interpretations. To celebrate to reinvention of Air Max and the debut of the new Engineered Mesh, Nike Sportswear teamed up with Matt to create #AIRMAX, which expands his already impressive Air Max 1 illustrations into the territory of the Air Max 90, 95, and 97, pinpointing the design inspiration, color, culture, and reinvention of each sneaker. Check out some of his artwork below and be sure to check on the #AIRMAX project on the Nike Sportswear Facebook Page.

The Nike Air Max 1 has been going hard on the suede looks as of late, but it’s been a minute since we saw the Nike Air Max 90 fully dipped in the look. Shown here is a duo that does the suede thing-one pair going for classic stone and the other going for hyper blue. Obviously the blue from the batch might be good for some extra mileage given how easily grey suede is going to pick up the grime, but far be it from us to steer you towards a particular pair. See both Nike Air Max 90 Essential pairs after the jump and see the preorders up for grabs from Afew.
