Revive Customs is back at it, once again going at a high-concept theme via the Nike Air More Uptempo. The pair, labeled as the Nike Air More Uptempo “Popular Myth and Destruction of Sodom”, was inspired by Revive’s own thoughts and opinions on the art world and what value custom sneakers have in that scene. Also worth mentioning, they were created for a member of the K-Pop band Big Bang (Trivia bit: Big Bang is signed to YG Entertainment, the same label as Psy of Gangham Syle fame). Continue reading to see the surreal results of this latest Revive Customs job after the jump and then drop your responses in the comments box below.

The next “For Promotional Use Only” pair from Revive Customs comes in the form of this Nike Air More Uptempo. The pair pays tribute to a little bit more of a well established record label, with a gradient in place along the jumbo “AIR” hit that matches that found on old Motown releases. What’s more, there’s a map style print on the toe cap and tongue badge that is also a direct reference to the graphics from Motown vinyl. Continue reading to check out this latest Revive Customs banger from the “For Promotional Use Only” series and check back in soon for more sneakers from the line.

Sneaker News is jumping back into the Sneakerpedia archives once again. What’s the topic this time? We wanted to give a little bit more shine to the Visible Air technology, Tinker’s brainchild that quietly celebrated its 25th anniversary as of last year. We dug through the various collections on display over at Sneakerpedia in an attempt to uncover some of the most revered, aesthetically striking, and technologically advanced vis-Air sporting sneakers over the years. The result is a visual history of the progression of Nike’s Air Max revolution from 1987 all the way up to 2012. Join us after the jump for a look at the sneakers selected, some OG and some not, and make sure you head to Sneakerpedia to see what other gems are waiting to be discovered.

House of Hoops has grown along with the sneakerhead scene and today we have word that a couple old favorites have come back with another exclusive pack. The Nike Air More Uptempo and Air Force 180 were focuses of the summer’s Olympic Volt and Dream Team packs, but these new styles apply the timing theme to a much shorter scale. The ‘Dawn to Dusk‘ pack gives us the AF180 as a crisp morning with a curious tessellated midsole and just a hint of sun peeking over the horizon, while new material techinques allow a ‘Dawn’ More Uptempo to look as only a brilliant customizer could have made them back in ’96. You’ll see more of both pairs after the jump below; which is your favorite part of the day? Check both and see what’s available right now on eBay.

It debuted the summer after that legendary season and saw most of its on-court time in the next NBA campaign, the Nike Air More Uptempo could be seen as the bookend to Nike Basketball’s utterly superior 1995-96 campaign. Riding high on a wave of momentum built by standout designs like the Air Jordan XI, Air Max Penny 1, Zoom Flight 95 and even a slam dunk on the ladies end with the Air Swoopes, Swoosh designer Wilson Smith wanted to figure out how to make Nike’s triumph even more apparent. Scottie Pippen made this model his own as a part of Chicago’s triumph over Seattle in the ’96 Finals, then rocked the just-retroed patriotic pair at the Atlanta Olympics while a nation of young sneakerheads followed along as best we could (anyone else cop the Air Much Uptempo takedown version?). Have a closer look at sketches and promotional material as well as some words from the designer below and stick with Sneaker News for more on this trip down memory lane through two decades of Nike Basketball standouts.

A little over a week ago, the Nike Sportswear ‘Dream Team’ Pack released after most stores missed the originally publicized July 1st drop date. That quartet of classic basketball silhouettes celebrates USA Basketball’s dominance with colorways like the ones you’ll see on display in London in a short while, its counterpart opting for an equally summer-friendly but altogether different appearance. The ‘Black Volt’ pack‘s approach is most apparent on the nearly all-neon Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4, though there’s no mistaking the black nubuck that makes up the majority of the Shox BB4, Air Force 180 and Air Force 1 High for a USAB style. Finshing the set is the Air More Uptempo that had previously been slated for a House of Hoops exclusive, but you’ll find all five of these available now at select NSW stockists on the revised July 21st release date. via ITSB

NIKE PACK WEEK
With Nike’s Retro Basketball line being such a major topic this year, it’s time we focus on one of the most concentrated Nike Basketball releases ever – the Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack of late 2005. Some may have overlooked these classics primarily because these were released exclusively overseas, so if you needed a reminder, there’s no better time than now. The Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack features a number of Nike Basketball models new and old ranging from the earliest Nike Blazer, to the new models like the Air Force Operate and Shox MTX. Sprinkled in between are other Classic models like the Air Force 180, Air Max Penny, and Air More Uptempo, but let’s break down this Pack even further.
The Nike ‘Hoop’ Pack was developed with a select group of NBA players in mind, with their teams acting as the maestros of each symphonic piece. The Air More Uptempo, which we attribute to Scottie Pippen, featured a re-mixed Chicago Bulls colorway with a daring Red upper and black patent leather on the big ‘AIR’. Penny Hardaway’s Air Max Penny threw in a contrasting University Blue in the classic Orlando, while four models featured the blazing Phoenix Suns colorway as the centerpiece. Being overseas exclusives (some released in Canada), the Hoop Pack was a tough find – particularly the lesser-known models like Tony Parker’s Air Double Figure (the Zoom Huarache 2k5 takedown model) and the aforementioned Shox MTX (Matrix, for Shawn Marion). Check out the entire Nike Hoop Pack of late 2005 below and stay tuned for more Pack goodness tomorrow in Classics Revisited!

Did the switcheroo Nike pulled last weekend still having you dreaming of these Olympic themed sneakers rather than holding them in your hands or better yet wearing them on your feet? At the last minute the Nike Sportswear ‘Dream Team’ pack pictured here was apparently pushed back, with a handful of boutique shops across the country adhering to the original 7/1 release date where the majority of them were forced to wait. Click through with us for shots of the Nike Air Force 180, Nike Air More Uptempo, Nike Shox BB4, Nike Air Zoom Huarache 2K4, and Nike Air Force 1 High Premium that constitute the pack and look for them at Nikestore and other NSW doors starting tomorrow, July 7th. Also if you don’t feel like waiting there are tons up for grabs on eBay now.
