Nike SB will indeed be joining in on the “Year of the Snake” celebrations put out by so many other wings of the Nike INC machine. The model to pick up on the theme is the Nike SB Bruin, a silhouette that doesn’t make headlines too often as it’s forced to occupy the shadows of other retro turned skate models like the Dunk and the Blazer. Get with us after the jump for a catalog preview of the snakeskin equipped Nike SB Bruin in black and metallic gold and check back to find out when this style will arrive at your local skateshop.

A hand descending from above with another duo of glorious blessings isn’t a sign from the heavens, but it does represent Size?’s status as the preeminent source for this particular makeup. The Nike Bruin VNTG is back with two more super-nappy suede colorups exclusive to the UK retailer, this ‘Hairy Suede’ sequel opting for green and a second purple, this time with monochromatic Swooshes instead of white. Both are coming up available this Saturday, January 5th, and the only place to get them is from Size?

The success of Nike Sportswear’s Blazer line and particularly the VNTG drops has trickled down to its Class of ’72 lowtop peer, the Nike Bruin. The effect has been so pronounced that there’s even a brand new Bruin Mid finally on the market after all these years, but that new variety won’t stop the backbone of this whole trend. Treated once again to NSW’s lovingly weathered vintage treatment, the VNTG Bruin maximizes its classic vibe with a couple of super-nappy suede colorups that look like a Lakers break-out. These are slated to release next Friday, December 7th exclusively at Size? and you can see more shots after the jump below.

Nike Sportswear introduced the Vintage Bruin lowtop right around the start of the year, brought forth an unprecedented midtop version with a unique twist on the aged VNTG look and finish things off in the fourth quarter with another fresh new style. These new Nike Bruin VNTG lows would be similar to the initial drops with their ‘suede and Sail’ construction reminiscent of the earlier Vintage Blazers, but their use of a totally novel diamond quilting pattern makes these stand out just as much as the upcoming pattern and snake Blazers. But while we have to wait until early next year for the hightop class of ’73 alum, its lowtop peer just dropped in two new colorways you can see in more photos below.

Every sneakerhead has his/her distinct tastes when it comes to Nike sneakers, and usually those tendencies can be categorized not only by style, but by the era. The 70′s, 80′s, 90′s, and 00′s were all special in their own right primarily because each 10-year block was so unique from one another – the 1970′s had the simple runners like the Cortez, while the 90′s introduced brighter colors and more high-tech designs like the Air Max 90 and the Mowabb. Artist Stephen Cheetham, who we’ve featured before from his involvement in sneaker-related art exhibits, continued his personal sneaker history by creating illustrations of his favorite by decade; while he calls the Nike Bruin his favorite sneaker of all-time, his range of ‘likes’ is worth noting as it includes some forgotten gems that you may have stashed somewhere in your memory. If this type of art looks familiar, you’re probably thinking of Robb Harskamp, who was commissioned by Nike to create illustrations for Tinker Hatfield’s 30th Anniversary Party (and was also a name in a light controversy with Kick Draw sneaker art). Check out the decade-by-decade illustrations of Cheetham’s favorite Nikes below and let us know which decade you like best! Photos: artandsole

Vintage Dunks preceded them in 2008 and pre-yellowed Terminators debuted around the same time the following year, but the Blazer High VNTG from Nike Sportswear has only shared that attic-found look with a select few retro runners over the past three years or so. The Vintage Blazer itself is going through several changes at the moment, so it’s a perfect time to see the NSW golden classics lineup expanding, the pair pictured above proof that a second run of Nike Bruin VNTG releases is on the way. These employ a microperforated texture on their Red Mahogany suede uppers, and while this ventilation is new for both this model and its antique cohorts, the oxidized sole and unfinished nylon tongue keep things familiar. They’ll be available at select NSW retailers in May and you can pre-order yours today from End.
