Nike SB May 2012 Footwear Releases

Nike SB is in for a major shakeup, but before Swoosh Skateboarding forever sees some of its signatures lose those two letters that garnered so much respect over the past decade, we’re ready for another batch including plenty of old favorites.  The May 2012 lineup is quite robust, including four Nike SB Dunks including Premier’s ‘Petoskey’ collabo among three Lows and a Mid, four new Zoom Stefan Janoski SBs including the 8FIVE2 collabo Quickstrike, two new Koston 1s and a single Omar Salazar LR to round out the group.  Click through for a closer look at each individual pair and be on the lookout for these at SB shops like Folsom, CA’s PLA, who got theirs a bit ahead of schedule.

Nike SB Dunk Low Matte Silver Classic Green Varsity Red

Is Nike SB on their way to reclaiming their former glory? Their collaborative releases are turning heads again and in their in-line styles like the new Nike SB Dunk Low shown here have been just as on point. You’ll recall that this pair first popped up at the tail end of last year, a time when we were knee deep in Dunks featuring a similarly textured upper. Here the pebbled look gets comes in a stony tone, pairing up with the reptilian swoosh and varsity red accents for an almost Medusa look. Stare at the extra shots after the jump free of any fear of turning to stone and cop this Nike SB Dunk Low now from SPoT.

Nike SB Dunk Low Sequoia Metal Zinc

Irrespective of whatever changes are in the cards for the Nike Skateboarding and 6.0 divisions, we know that this pair pictured above will ship with an ‘SB’ label.  This new Nike SB Dunk Low Pro is a nice mix of fresh and familiar, a pairing of two brand new color shades that utilizes a material distribution vaguely similar to several recent releases.  Sequoia suede fits its name with a lush evergreen overlay while the Metal Zinc shade follows in the footsteps of a color that made the Air Flightposite II famous.  Let us know what you think of this dark design for the cold weather months and stick with Sneaker News for release info.  via N-SB

Nike SB Dunk Low Slate Blue

In July 2008, Nike SB dropped a Dunk High whose colorway and blocking pattern so strongly resembled an ’03 collabo that folks started calling them ‘Un-Futura’. This turned out to be one of the earliest examples of a trend we’ve seen amplified in the last year-plus, whereby Swoosh skateboarding ports over classic colorups, and with Dunks it’s usually a palette from one of the other silos. The upcoming release pictured above is a Nike SB Dunk Low just like Futura’s noteworthy collaboration, and thanks to the combination of rich blue suede along with black and white elements, it’s natural to see them as connected to Nike SB’s relatively short yet exceptionally rich history. Check these out up close below and stick with Sneaker News for release info. Photos: Kasina

Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Black Clear Jade

Nike SB is making the most of its use of the Clear Jade color this season, their latest also managing to evoke two of Swoosh skateboarding’s best loved design motifs all while showcasing the new shade. This new Nike SB Dunk Low Pro has been dubbed ‘Tiffany J-Pack’ for its equally solid representation of the SB-borrowed OG Air Jordan 1 palettes as well as their own 2005 collaboration with Diamond Supply Co. If you go looking hard enough, there’s a bit of the ‘Sea Crystal’ Dunk High SB in there as well, which reminds us that these three classic SB signature styles are among the most popular for modern reinterpretation. Let us know how these rank against all those aqua-accented SBs when you head over to see more images of this summer 2012 release and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release. Nike SB Dunk Low Grey Goose Customs by LeMMonheaDD

Upon seeing the release of a Nike SB Dunk Low composed mainly of white and Matte Silver a couple weeks ago, one Sneaker News reader noted that in this case, “To cement print or to not cement print . . . that is the question.”  We’ve seen Elephant added several times (especially on models with grey panels) so kudos to LeMMonheaDD on this design that manages a different connection to the Nike SB legacy.  This ‘Grey Goose’ Dunk Low SB applies flying bird silhouettes atop the silver overlay in a way that could possibly pass as a veiled reference until you see the French Tricolore insignia on the left heel (a detail that’d have these Heineken’d all over again).  The other question that begs to be asked here is how a detailed model like this inspired by adult beverages compares to the more abstract approaches we’ve seen on models like the upcoming ‘Crown Royal’ design.  Leave a comment when you click through for more images and stick with Sneaker News for the latest custom designs.  via N-SB
