John Varvatos‘ sustained attention over the past couple years has given a nice push to the recently resurrected Converse Star Player. Varvatos’ latest take on this classic hightop offers an expectedly distressed approach that’s achieved differently than anything else he’s done to date. These new John Varvatos x Converse Star Player Mids should probably cost a bit more than your average pair because of the extra manhours necessary to build the shoe, tear its branding and overlay asunder, apply blackened antiquing on the sole and dispose of the extra waste. Either that, or Converse is in possession of the most precisely malfunctioning sewing machines in existence. In any case, you’re looking at a fresh approach to making things look old and used, something JV’s Converse capsule has utterly mastered. via Dunk
