Spaced out basketball sneakers are cool and all but artist Tom Sachs has taken the idea of out of this world Swoosh products to the next level, leverage his NASA obsessed aesthetic to create the NikeCRAFT collection. The quick capsule looks at Nike gear through the functional lens of astronautical wear, outfitting jackets, bags, and least of all the hybrid Mars Yard sneaker. The project launched in NYC yesterday at Sachs’ Space Program: MARS exhibition, taking place in the massive Park Avenue Armory which was transformed into an eerie portrait of the artist’s space age fantasies. Stay with us after the jump for the full photo recap of this unique team up between Tom Sachs and Nike, and be sure to check out the exhibit at the Park Avenue Armory if you’re in NYC.
