Packer Shoes To Donate Proceeds from May Sales To Boston Relief

Packer Shoes May 2013 Donate

After the tragic events at the Boston Marathon one month ago, Packer Shoes quickly bounced into the aid effort by donating all of its proceeds from the sales of its New Balance “Boston Marathon” releases. The outpour of charity-driven purchases and additional donations allowed Packer Shoes to donate a hefty amount to the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club, where Martin Richard, the 8-year-old victim of the attacks, spent a bulk of his free time. Packer Shoes would like to continue the effort by donating 10% of its sales from May 15th to May 31st directly to the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. Along with purchases made between now and the end of the month, customers also have the opportunity to donate more at their own discretion. Read Packer Shoes’ full statement below, and head to Packer Shoes to purchase kicks and contribute to an honorable cause.

This past week while we were up in Boston we had the opportunity to meet some of the people behind and involved with the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. The unfortunate and tragic events that stemmed from the day of the Marathon brought out some of the best in people. We fortunately were able to see the same in the response we had to the campaign we launched and we were honored and privileged to hand over a check for $25,000 to the DB&GC last Thursday evening.

One person involved in the DB&GC who we met is a man by the name of Don Rodman, an 82-year-old retired Bostonian business man born and raised in Dorchester who gives back to the community and has the energy and enthusiasm we all should strive for. The evening was both informative and an inspiration to us all and we are proud to have been a conduit to all of those who purchased and ended up giving to this tremendous cause.

This project which literally was turned on and run with could not have been pulled off without the hustle and extra hours put in by our staff and numerous people over at NB who understood that we were doing this on a whim and did whatever they could to make things run as smooth as possible.

Not trying to rest on our laurels, we are trying to take this one step further. Starting today May 15 at noon up until the end of day May Friday May 31, we are going to donate 10% of all sales thru our store and website to the Dorchester Boys and Girls Club. That includes every single item we sell — 10% of that sale will go directly to the Club. We will also be leaving up the individual links which many people took advantage of which gives the opportunity to add to your sale or just donate a pre determined amount to the DB&GC.

Thank you again and we hope we can help ease some of the pain of this most tragic event.
