From Skateshops to Nikestore: Nike SB Collaborations Now For the Masses
This past weekend saw the debut of the new Premier x Nike SB Dunk High “Petoskey”, a sneaker that was first available at their home shop. At this point nobody expects that sort of shoe to stay just at one Nike SB account, as the custom has them becoming a bit more available with a widespread release in the weeks that follow. But over the past couple of years these sort of collab releases have gone even more mainstream in terms of distribution. We’re speaking of their arrival on Nikestore, that most accessible of sneaker-purchasing portals.
In 2013, collaboration productions like the Neckface x Nike SB Blazer, DJ Clark Kent’s “112″ pair of Dunk Lows, the “Send Help” sequel, and the Concepts “Ugly Christmas Sweater” all made their way to Nikestore. And in 2014 the Premier x Nike SB Dunk High “Petoskey” is doing the same, with a release set for January 11th. While there certainly is an upside to this leveling of the playing field, there is also something to be said for the diminished level of mystique for these sort of releases. This approach further distances the current sneaker era from the campout days of old; why camp for a release if you know it’s doing to be on Nikestore soon enough? Tell us your stories down in the comments regarding any particularly memorable Nike SB-hunting stories of old and let us know your feelings on Nikestore’s stocking of these premium releases.

I hate it it was fun to wake up go to your local shop kick it with other ppl buying the shoes talk about other shoes most shops are independent unlike Jordan retailers this is killing small businesses
i think this shoe is pretty overhyped it doesnt really look like nike sbs they look like some simple winterized nikes
if you feel super special about having a pair of sneakers that no one has, then you need a life. i hope i will get a pair of tiffany hi's walking into supreme or ccs. and skate them.
this is good cause shoe boutique shops crash constantly while Nike has never fully crashed, if u ever been on premier, bait, burnrubber, or any other collab boutique u know around release time of a super limited collab (OMG KITH) the site crashes way too easily or it appears in ur cart and even though u pay immediately its gone from ur cart in 2 seconds. NIke has better servers and a holding time in cart for i believe at least 5 minutes, so its easier. CANNOT WAIT FOR HIGH TIFFANIES CAUSE IF THEY DROP ON NIKE>COM EASIER COP THAN DIAMOND SUPPLY WEBSITE
I don't have a issues with it, as long as it's the same colorway and material that's what I wanted. Not the logo lol.
I got mine from Premier on their release date last sat. They told me that the difference between theirs and the general QS is the Premier branding on the tongue and insole as well as the "frosted P" on the side. They even have a different style number on the box. Which is still good for the people who can stil camp/go to the in store release.
Premier's release differs slightly from the mass release. The embroidered "P" isn't present on the NikeStore/Other SB shop release. So, it, I guess, kind of retains an element of exclusivity?
It's because SB's are not as hot or on peoples radar as they were back in like 05'-10'. It was the same as forces. When forces was flying off the shelves especially those Icey Whites back in like '00-02' you would wish they would drop them online. Now that they basically whored them out, you can easily get them on the Nike online shop. Nike did it to themselves with release after release and stupid CW's of Sb's an forces.
@sneakernews I'm happy I really wanted these premier kicks
@sneakernews worst decision ever
@Alejandro8675 thank you man this is much needed it happened to me on day of premier release and then they were suddenly not in my cart and of icoudrse i didnt get them. This makes alot more sense so everybody has an equal opportunity to get them as long as you have the bread thats all that should matter. You still wont seee everybody rocking these bc everybody still wears jordans and alot of ppl still sleep on nike sb dunks
@Darrell_NC it is totally fair some it gives the people who actually took the time to cop the shoe at the actual boutiques something different cause they got it there first, if not everybody would have the same thing.
@Darrell_NC Wait a minute. How in the the hell is Nike gonna take the branding off a collab just because it sells their online store? I can seeif you get them at the skateshops you get the special boxes and extra goodies like SPoT "Cigar" or the Concepts "Blue Lobster". If they gonna do that to the Premier ones, they might wanna knock that $120 price down to like $98. Not paying $120 for less because I didn't get it at Premier....
@feelemyer I would have agree if I did not just pay $220 for them. Lmao. Oh well I wanted them.
@Alejandro8675 @Darrell_NC I WOULD STILL HAVE TO DISAGREE. I AGREE IF YOU GET IT FROM THE INITIAL SKATESHOP, THAT YOU GET ALL THE GOODIES LIKE A SPECIAL NIKE SB BOX, TEES, SKATEBOARDS, STICKERS, CONDOMS, ETC. WHEN THEY COME TO OTHER SHOPS, STICKE EM IN A ORDINARY SB BOX. BUT DON'T STRIP DOWN THE SHOES ITSELF AND SELL IT FOR THE SAME PRICE. IF THAT JORDAN V "OREGON DUCK" DOES COME TO MARKET, DO Y'ALL THINK ITS GONNA RELEASE THE SAME WAY IT DID AS A PE? HELL NO!!! NIKE IS GONNA DUMB IT DOWN A FEW NOTCHES LIKE MATERIAL AND DETAIL AND THAT WON'T BE RIGHT.
Yeah man. Everything that has "Premier" on it (tongue tag, insole) will instead have "Nike Sb" on it on the general release versions. I have the lows they did a couple years back and same thing. The insoles were different and had "Premier" on the tips of the laces, while the GR versions didn't
@puerto_rican32 I have been caught in the resell market before and paid more for a shoe I wanted as well. But sometimes you gotta do it!
