UK retailer JD Sports dominance in the running department is well documented. They’re never shy about debuting an exclusive colorway for the Nike Air Max 95 and on the rare occasion, they’ll even give us a first look at some other formidable runners in a brand new aesthetic. Today it’s the Asics Gel Lyte III as the infamous split-tongue retro runner returns to form thanks to a simple, albeit effective, Nayv and Light Blue mock up. The 1991 model is perhaps at its best when donning a simple near-monochromatic finish as the accents are prone to stand out more while also allowing one to focus on the materials used (here it’s a mesh and suede construction). What do you think?┬áBe sure to stick around after the click for a better view of this obsidian Gel Lyte III and pick it up today from JD Sports.

good will out asics gel lyte v koyo global release date 01 The Good Will Out x Asics Gel Lyte V Koyo Global Release Date

For those of us stateside, we had to wait an extra week for The Good Will Out x Asics Gel Lyte V “Koyo” but luckily the Japanese referencing retro runner will be headed our way this Saturday. The current fall season is always an inspirational one in terms of collaborative aesthetics, and The Good Will Out utilizes an interesting crinkled-like leaf texture on the back heel of this Asics Gel Lyte V in a reference to the autumn leaves currently transitioning colors in Japan. Be sure to stick around after the break for a detailed look at this Asics collaboration and be on the lookout for this Gel Lyte V to expand its reach this Saturday 10/25.

Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Kayano Trainer “Melvin” – Release Date

October 15th, 2014 by | No comments

melvin asics sneaker freaker 4 Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Kayano Trainer Melvin Release Date

The Sneaker Freaker x ASICS Gel Kayano Trainer “Melvin” will release on November 1st, 2014. Considering this collaborative model is slated for a fall arrival, its clear that the dark, bold tones represent a change in climate while equally acting as a continuation to its highly coveted predecessor, the “Alvin Purple.” Unlike the “Alvin,” the “Melvin” is canvased over the Gel Kayano Trainer, basking in premium updates including an elastic neoprene sockliner and rubber heel cage. An infusion of glittered 3M covers the cage, paired with plush black suede and mesh construction throughout the upper. Bright yellow accents along the paneling and outsole provide even greater distinction, while polka dot laces add yet another layer of prestige. To conclude, the “Melvin” pays tribute to its pops with a splash of purple across the heel. Check out the photos below for one more look and let us know if you’re looking to cop these on Saturday at spots like Oneness.

Asics Gel Lyte V – Black – Neon

October 8th, 2014 by | No comments

asics gel lyte v black neon 01 Asics Gel Lyte V Black Neon

The Asics Gel Lyte V spends so much time getting premium treatments from outside influences – the most recent of which is that Good Will Out collaboration – that it’s easy to forget the sneaker is still capable of standing out on its own with in-house colorways breaking new ground. Sure, Volt-like greens are usually reserved for Swoosh-donning pairs, but when put in the context of this retro Asics runner, the aesthetic is just jarring enough to turn heads. With black suede, reflective branding on the side panel and a heavy dose of the standout accent, this sleek Gel Lyte V ditches the tonal fall tradition we’ve come so accustomed to. We’re still waiting to confirm a stateside release date, but are you feeling this vibrant take? Check out more photos after the break and be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Will the Asics GT-Cool ever have its moment in the collab sun? The shoe has been pretty stubborn as far as partnerships go – Extra Butter had their way with the shoe and there are images of an upcoming Ronnie Fieg take on them, but other than that things have been pretty quiet. That’s not to say that there aren’t inline pairs in the mix though, the latest of which is this tan tone pair that’s got a little bit of overlap in colors with the “Honey Mustard” Asics Gel Lyte III. Check additional angles on them below and watch with us for a US drop.
