Woei x Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Cervidae’

Hot on the heels of this morning’s teaser logo for the project, the Woei x Asics Gel-Lyte III ‘Cervidae’ has already emerged from the woods. The look is outdoorsy as expected, with a distinct boot influence running through the earthy design. That influence is made most apparent in the laces, which get a striped look and even a few metal attachments, and the hand-stitched look down on the toebox. Stick with us after the jump for the first look at this upcoming release from Holland’s own Woei and let us know where you rank them in terms of the collabo Asics we’ve seen come down the pipeline for 2012. Also, check back with Sneaker News for the word on when this Asics Gel-Lyte III will hit retail. Photos: VS

Woei x Asics Gel Lyte III Cervidae Teaser

Their Gel Lyte III thoroughly invigorated by collaborations with guest designers over the past half-decade, Asics seeks out another tag team partner from the same land where their 2007 Patta joints kickstarted this whole frenzy.  And while Rotterdam’s Woei brings us a Holland history lesson for that shoe’s fifth anniversary, they’re also going to subtly remind you that, limping dreadfully, King Phillip came over from great Spain.  No, Woei didn’t reach out to Barcelona’s 24 Kilates; that’s the mnemonic device for biological classifications, as in the family Cervidae namechecked on what we can already assume is going to be an earthy Woei x Asics Gel Lyte III.  The ‘Cervidae’ GL3′s presumed palette and wild game theme would be well suited to a fall release, but they could easily pop up out of nowhere when you least expect it, so be sure to stick with Sneaker News for updates.

Solemart Berlin 2012 Event Recap

Let’s continue our trip around the globe to Berlin, where Solemart made a stop this past weekend. It’s clearly dominated by the adidas three stripes, as tables and displays are rife with classic runners and vintage items that most of you probably can’t even remember, but there’s love for all brands out there as New Balance, Saucony, Nike, and Jordan all shared an equal bit of the spotlight. Sneaker events down in Australia and other gatherings in South Korea prove that the worldwide love for laces and suede is getting stronger by the year, but if you can’t see that the sneaker game outside of the States is totally different, you don’t want to miss this recap of Solemart Berlin 2012. We’ve got a nice crop of recap photos below so take a look and see if you can spot any gems that you never see in the States, and head on over to shoetown50 for a full recap of this sick event.

Highs & Lows x Asics Bricks & Mortar Pack Gel Lyte III + GT II

Sneaker Freaker teased with a look at an upcoming Asics collaboration with Aussie sneaker boutique Highs & Lows dubbed the ‘Bricks & Mortar’ Pack, highlighting the Gel Lyte III and the GT-II. All we were given were two shots of the tongue labels, which shows the cryptic HAL compass-and-square logo, but today, we’re pulling off the covers and showing you full shots of the Gel Lyte III and the GT-II, which are currently featured in the latest Sneaker Freaker Issue. With colorways as simple and time-tested as the name suggests, the HAL x Asics ‘Bricks & Mortar’ Pack additionally features special edition insoles on both pairs. You can take a closer look at both after the jump as well as in the latest issue of Sneaker Freaker, so let us know what you think after you give them a quick review. Photos: higuy on NT

Highs and Lows x Asics Bricks and Mortar Pack

Highs and Lows is a sneaker boutique in Perth, Australia, but the way their latest collaborative concept slips and slides across multiple layers suggests they’d be right at home in Houston.  This new ‘Bricks and Mortar’ pack brings together two Highs and Lows x Asics classics, the former represented on the GT-II and the later a new Gel Lyte III.  The theme extends beyond the 7th anniversary of the HAL store and connects with the most notorious bricklayers in the world as conspiracy-minded sneakerheads will be able to see ‘HAL’ in the tongues’ compass-and-square logo.  The result is a fully fleshed-out multilayered theme that’s every bit as subtle as you’d expect from a secret society and you can see more of the first teaser images below.  via SneakerFreaker

24 Kilates x Asics Gel Saga Tio Pepe Pack

That little detail about 24 Kilates’ latest sneaker collaboration conspicuously not including an alcoholic component?  Go ahead and forget about that.  Just as much as we’ve come to expect excellent execution from their designs, we can reasonably predict a liquid pack-in, and now comes word that the Feria de Abril-inspired 24 Kilates x Asics Gel Saga will indeed offer a limited special edition package complete with a bottle of the world’s best-selling Sherry brand.  60 sets will include a bottle of Tio Pepe complete with the company’s signature anthropomorphism, hat and jacket details applied to the vessel as well as the tiny hangtags crafted in that same shape.  The level of detail here is impressive as always, so click through to see more of 24 Kilates’ Gel Saga and its Tio Pepe finishing touches and let us know if you’ll try to get one of these exclusive packages.

Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT II Super Red 2.0 Release Date

Roughly two years ago Ronnie Fieg introduced his ‘Super Red’ concept to the world in the form of a supremely built Asics Gel Lyte III. Due to the success of the release, Fieg had harbored a desire to revisit Super Red, and decided it was time once again to re-insert the robust tonal red to the sneaker world with another classics Asics build – the Gel-cushioned GT-II. Here we have a first look at ‘Super Red 2.0′, exhibited by model and Fieg’s fellow Long island native Casey Diego; it features the lush red pigskin on the slimmer-fitting GT-II silhouette with grey accents on the tongue label and outsole for a superb reprisal of Super Red that does the original firm justice. These are set to release this Friday, April 27th, at both of Kith’s NY locations as well as the Kith online store, so take a look at this detailed gallery now and check out the Super Red 2.0 lookbook here.
