Yeah we’ve got at least one steady stream of collabo Asics models here in the US, but the folks around the rest of the world have a much easier time grabbing these kind up team-ups. This latest brings in two oustide entities, Koi Klub of Japan and Afew out in Germany, to work on the beloved split-tongue banger the Asics Gel Lyte III in celebration of Germany’s “Japan Day” on June 2nd. The colorblocking is apparently anchored by the Japanese aspect, their Nisshōki flag oozing through the details with the red, white, and black palette as well as the circular hit towards the heel. Click through for the teaser of the Afew x Koi Klub x Asics Gel Lyte III, which will launch at the Japan Day celebration on June 2nd at Afew in Dussledorf, coinciding with some Japanese BBQ and an exhibition by artist Yoske Nishiumi.

This past weekend, Sneaker Con made a stop at the Windy City Fieldhouse in Chicago – the birthplace of Michael Jordan’s illustrious NBA career. Sponsored by adidas Originals, Leaders 1354 and New Era Chicago, the city’s best representatives of the sneaker game and urban fashion culture came through to make Sneaker Con Chicago another successful outing. It’s time to bring the sneaker event back to NYC, and this past weekend, some of the most notable names in the sneaker game came together to put forth one of the most unique ones we’ve seen yet – the Frsher Than Your Avrge Sneaker Battle. A large crowd gathered to buy, sell, and trade, but all came for the main event, which pitted sneakerhead y sneakerhead in a test of sneaker knowledge, maintenance, and general presentation. The chosen winner was Slova Don, a recognizable name here on Sneaker News thanks to his inspired Bespoke creations of the past. The event was hosted by Brooklyn-natives Premium Pete and Dallas Penn and featured other notable guests, so check out ,ore of the event below and check out SneakerTube.TV for more.

Let’s continue our trip around the globe to Berlin, where Solemart made a stop this past weekend. It’s clearly dominated by the adidas three stripes, as tables and displays are rife with classic runners and vintage items that most of you probably can’t even remember, but there’s love for all brands out there as New Balance, Saucony, Nike, and Jordan all shared an equal bit of the spotlight. Sneaker events down in Australia and other gatherings in South Korea prove that the worldwide love for laces and suede is getting stronger by the year, but if you can’t see that the sneaker game outside of the States is totally different, you don’t want to miss this recap of Solemart Berlin 2012. We’ve got a nice crop of recap photos below so take a look and see if you can spot any gems that you never see in the States, and head on over to shoetown50 for a full recap of this sick event.
