The recent hot water that a couple of NFL players have gotten themselves into continues to affect their sponsorship deals. Following their terminating of Ray Rice’s contract, Nike has now suspended their contract with Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. The suspension relates to current indictments of negligent injury to a child brought against Peterson. Nike spokesman KeJuan Wilkins issued a statement on the matter, explaining “Nike in no way condones child abuse or domestic violence of any kind and has shared our concerns with the NFL”. Rice has been a prominent figure in promoting the brand’s football initiatives, but this spells the end of any professional connection between the Swoosh and the former Superbowl champ. The premium retail spot expanded its reach and took over the adjacent Fooaction space; adoring the walls with pieces of Jordan Brand history like those framed sets of sneaker components or that carved story board of MJ’s personal journey. On top of that, there was a shoe trialing area complete with a custom court where you could record your own dunks for posterity.
