Puma Blaze of Glory LTWT

Puma’s Faas-enfused LTWT series has already made its mark on the German Cat’s most easily identifiable early ’90s runner, so what about its immediate predecessor from whom the Disc Blaze’s familiar lines were an evolution?  The Puma Blaze of Glory LTWT makes up what it lacks in funky enclosure systems with a beautifully balanced take on the ‘Grape’ palette that features plenty of grey to tie in with today’s trends.  So while we can all agree that Puma’s retro running and hybrid output is nowhere near Nike Sportswear or adidas Originals, can these LTWT Blaze of Glory runners keep pace with the big boys?  Let us know if you’d cop these while you’re checking out more photos below, then grab yours from select Puma stockists including End.

Hussein Chalayan x Puma Urban Conflate

With today’s preponderance of hybrid sneaker designs, it’d only be natural to see the name of Hussein Chalayan‘s latest design for Puma and expect some kind of mashup.  And while the new Puma Urban Conflate was inspired by sailing and kite flying and seeks to capture the interplay of sport, motion and speed, they basically look like a Euro-sleek take on classic lowtop silhouettes like the Nike Bruin, adidas Gazelle and even a little of Puma’s own Roma.  No matter the background, this white leather lowtop is sure to turn heads with a metallic silver ‘foxing’ band, and you’ll find them available now at SNS.

Hussein Chalayan x Puma Haast Leather

Hussein Chalayan’s Puma designs might not attract the kind of mainstream attention as something like the Nike Air Yeezy 2, but there’s no doubting that the German Cat’s Creative Director is making his mark in the lifestyle sneaker market.  Not only can Kanye West’s latest Nike Sportswear collaboration be seen as influenced by the molded styling on Chalayan’s Urban Swift, but his latest pushes into a new territory with its unique collection of textures.  On paper, the Puma Haast Leather is just another grey and white sneaker during a period rife with neutral designs, but even the quickest glance reveals there’s a bit more going on with this one.  From the gradient perforations on the side panels to the scratchy epi leather-leaning texture on the rest, this is a model that doesn’t have all that many peers, and their unique sensibility is yours for the taking now from SNS.

Puma Suede Classic Eco

Last summer, Puma dipped five Suedes in the colors of the Olympic rings for the kind of pack that we’d more naturally to expect during years divisible by four.  That in no way diminishes the gold metal-level effort on this all-time classic, and now we get a new Puma Suede Classic Eco that essentially combines the black and red designs from that set.  It’s actually a bit more complicated than that, though, as the upper is more dark grey than black, a look that’s just as in-step with today’s trends in its own right.  Check them out up close after the jump and look for these now at select Puma stockists like Solebox.

Takumi x Puma RS + Sky II

There are probably about 10% of people who consider themselves sneakerheads who could tell you off the top of their head that Michael Jordan wore Converse in college and wanted to sign with adidas when he was drafted to the NBA. And maybe if we’re lucky, something like a tenth of a percent of that select grouop would be (old enough to be) able to tell you that despite winning the 1982 NCAA Championship on that game winning jumper, MJ wasn’t even considered the best player in the Atlantic Coast Conference. That’s the hype 1983 #1 pick Ralph Sampson had while playing for the then-dominant Virginia Cavaliers, the kind of potential that secured him a sneaker deal with a more lasting legacy than his injury-plagued NBA career.

Those bad knees are why the paragraph above is probably the most you’ve heard about Ralph Sampson outside of ESPN Classic, but his name has been kept alive by the Puma RS that we’ve seen with increasing frequency of late. That classic hightop is joined by another in the Sky II as these Takumi x Puma releases come to market with the simplest of premium leather constructions. Check them out in greater detail after the jump and look for these at top-tier Puma retailers next month. via SM

Puma Live Life, Dont Watch It

With the surge of popularity of reality television, the line that separates reality and real life gets more and more blurry by the day. Are you spending your nights ‘living life’ vicariously through a 30-minute program, or are you an ‘After Hours Athlete’? Puma Social introduces this hip and profound 90-second video titled ‘Live Life, Don’t Watch It’, overlaying sound-clips of popular reality TV shows and visuals of life being played out. Which side do you fall on: Are you consumed by reality TV or are you one of Puma‘s coined ‘After Hours Athletes’? Check out the full video below and head over to Puma Social.

UNDFTD x Puma Ballistic Collection

At what point along the way does an extended collaboration become a full-on merger?  We’ve come to expect ongoing team efforts from individual designers in concert with sneaker brands (think adidas Originals by Originals), but the connection between West Coast streetwear beheamoths UNDFTD and Puma has gone beyond any co-branded efforts on record.  Most recent high profile Puma Clydes have carried the Five Strikes logo, something of a mathematical necessity when you consider that this is now the tenth pack of UNDFTD Clydes in under a year.  This new set goes with pastel ballistic nylon uppers, tonal suede overlays and white leather Formstripes, a formula slightly altered on the RS hightop that uses a grey or purple stripe depending on the rest of its body.  Check out all six pairs after the jump and look for these at select Puma stores like SNKRS.
