Gradient designs have been all the rage in recent years as production methods have advanced beyond the point where colorblocking is constrained by layers of leather and suede. A look that has roots in 2008′s Nike Dunk High ‘Destroyer’ pack has evolved to the point where a model like the Zoom Kobe VII wouldn’t be the same without a gradient on its synthetic shell. The above pictured Supra Vaider Mid in ripstop canvas can’t quite match the detail on a model like the ZK7, but the black-to-white fade is embodied by a succession of progressively darker shades front to back, and select pink accents add a nice pop to this otherwise neutral colorup. The Supra Owen is the Crown brand’s first running sneaker, a departure for this brand that’d heretofore focused its energies on the skateboarding scene. It’s a risk that’s paying dividends as sneakerheads and casual buyers alike come to recognize the potential for lightweight and breezy summer comfort coming from this ‘unlikely’ source at a wholly reasonable price point. The Owen is back for summer with two new colorways, one a ‘Sport Blue’-inspired answer to March’s OG Air Max 1-inspired release, the other closer to the kinds of styles we saw in 2010′s Air Attack Pack thanks to the subtle use of purple accents on an otherwise black base. Check out both in greater detail below, then grab yours straight from Supra.

Plenty of sneaker brands have tried workwear or otherwise blue collar-leaning colorways over the past couple years, and even though that connection is referenced in the Supra Pilot ’Utility’ nickname, the design (and previous explicit ‘Workwear’ drops from the Crown brand) require that we think another layer deeper to make sense of what’s going on here. At first glance, this is just a tonal black shoe with a white sole, but a closer look reveals that a combination of rugged cotton twill and soft microfiber are not only providing depth of color. There’s also a statement here on the kinds of materials that were once geared toward the average American workday (denim for hard labor) as compared to today’s decidedly more white-collar population (microfiber to clean your LCD or smartphone display). Supra has subtly packed in a satisfyingly thoughtful theme into this unassuming hightop skate shoe, and you’ll find them available now directly from the source.

When will Supra bring out the seemingly inevitable Skylow 3? We’ve seen lowtop versions for each of Chad Muska’s first two Crown brand signatures, but given that the second one just arrived a couple months back, we’ll probably be waiting on the 3s for a good while. Good news, then, that a new Supra Skylow 2 has just released, and even better once you take a look at the unique color scheme and material combination in use on this ‘Vintage’ Skylow 2. These hearken back to a simpler time in sneaker design with their tonal blue mix of canvas and an extra nappy suede, while select citrus accents push this ocean blue look toward a tropical finish. Check them out in greater detail below, then grab yours straight from Supra.

Anyone else still waiting for the Weezy x Supra collaboration to drop? Until then we’ll have to make due with the inline releases, not that there’s anything wrong with that given the Crown Brand’s typically strong theme driven designs. This latest duo of navy and black sneakers keeps up with the high bar they’ve set, with the Supra Skytop III pairs shown both taking on a redone version of their signature TUF stuff up top. Make sure you hit the jump for the complete look at both and if you like what you see then head over to Supra’s online spot to get either for yourself now.

Earlier this week, Supra debuted their new Lux suede material on the Pilot hightop. That model came in Atlanta Braves colors and featured a textured sole that further connected them to the ‘Native’ nickname with which they’ve shipped. And it turns out that they’re not the only such high-contrast navy and red design coming from the Crown brand with that same label: here’s our first look at the Supra Skytop III ’Native’. Chad Muska’s most recent signature features that same color scheme that looks so good in spring it’s present on something like a third of Major League Baseball team color schemes, and you’ll find them available at Supra after you check out some additional images below.

Supra has been giving nicknames to everything that’s come down their pike for the past year or so, but here’s a case where the moniker denotes more than just a vague concept or color scheme. The Supra Pilot ’Native’ comes with an Atlanta Braves-like two-toned upper that’s made up of their new super-smooth Lux suede. This material appears even less nappy than nubuck for an almost waxy appearance, while a woven texture on the white vulc sole beneath furthers the connection to the indigenous theme. Check these out up close below, let us know how Lux suede compares to the various TUF textures and cop your ‘Native’ Pilots straight from Supra.

The man who played a major role in the Southern rap movement (coining the generation-defining term ‘bling’ in the process) has embraced the world of skate head-on, crediting the sport as one of his “pure passions” and as a soul-searching endeavor that has proven to be as rewarding as it is entertaining. Some time ago, Lil’ Wayne hinted at a partnership with a footwear brand and our readers chimed in with some conjecture, but Lil’ Wayne will put that discussion to rest as he confirms a partnership with Skate/Lifestyle brand Supra during a recent interview with MTV. Lil’ Wayne and Supra seem to be a fitting match, so it’s exciting to see what the brand has in store for one of the most unique cross-over superstars of the generation. Your thoughts on an upcoming Supra x Lil’ Wayne signature shoe? Peep the full video interview below and let us know what you think.
