wale in air jordan xvii lightning Wale in Air Jordan XVII Lightning

While you wait around to see whether or not the Air Jordan IV “Lightning” materializes in 2013, Wale has that angle covered as far as Air Jordans go. The rapper recently showed up to 106 & and Park taping wearing a lightning-colored Air Jordan of old-the Air Jordan XVII from back in 2002. And given his long-standing sneakerhead status, we have the feeling that this is something that’s been sitting in his closet for a minute rather than a random Flight Club purchase for the NY trip. See all the photos of Wale with his Lightnings on right after the jump and tell us if you’ve gained some more respect for the MMG rapper with this most recent wear.

The news of the entire set of the Air Jordan ‘Black/Neon’ Collection being given away was definitely music to the ears, but no Air Jordan sounded as blissful as the Air Jordan XVII. Directly inspired by Michael Jordan’s love for jazz music, the Air Jordan XVII features musical notes molded into the upper of the shoe, which played right into the grown-up businessman motif of the Air Jordan XVII original release (the shoes came with a dang briefcase). Get a load of the Air Jordan XVII from the ‘Black/Neon’ Collection below and stay tuned for more!

That wasn’t the only time he’s rocked such a recent model, taking it back a few steps in his storied career he had this Air Jordan XVII when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. Classics Revisited: Air Jordan XVII Low – White – University Blue (2002)

AIR JORDAN LOW WEEK PART 2

Finishing off this week of Classics Revisited feature of low-top Jays is the UNC-inspired colorway of the Air Jordan XVII Low. The shoe doesn’t look much like a low-top, but that’s because the internal bootie extends outward up to the ankle, giving the shoe a mid-cut look. Jordan actually wore several PE colorways of the Air Jordan XVII Low during his Wizards days, and we even recounted the Lightnings when he hilariously missed that wide-open slam-dunk during the 2002 NBA All-Star Game. Performance-wise – the XVII is recalled by ballers as being one of the best. The Air Jordan XVII is considered to be the best Air Jordan of the non-Tinker area, as it seamlessly welded a number of concepts like Jordan’s love for golf and jazz music into one classy design. More of this classic Air Jordan Low below, so give it a look and let us know if these are in your collection!

Sneaker News: Was It The Shoes? continues with another memorable moment in Michael’s career, but this one carries an air of infamy rather than one of legend. Tonight, we’ll focus on one of the not-so-MJ moments – a head-scratching blunder that unfortunately happened on one of the most televised games of the NBA Season – the All-Star Game. Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’

May 22nd, 2012 by | 76 comments

air jordan rainbow pack1 Air Jordan Rainbow Pack

It all started with that Air Jordan IV, showing up with the monochrome blocking on top that was unlike any Air Jordan colorway we’d seen before. After that the Air Jordan XVI and Air Jordan XII did the same, suggesting that the super colorful pairs were part of some over-arching theme never to make it to retail, sort of in the same vein as the ‘History of Flight’ or ‘Pantone’ series. Well folks, Pandora’s box has officially been opened-it turns out the set spans quite the range, starting at the Air Jordan 1 and reaching all the way up to last year’s Air Jordan 2011, created strictly for display purposes in the Spring 2011 season just like the aforementioned collections. Every two pairs along the way sports a slightly different shade, with the 25 separate models included pretty much spanning what the rainbow has to offer. Hit the jump with us to check out the crazy Air Jordan ‘Rainbow Pack’ courtesy of brokeonjordans on eBay and let us know which pair among them you like the most. Photos: brokeonjordans
