It looks like both of the Asics GT-II colorways scheduled for August will be hitting store shelves in July, at least at European stores. This is great news for those who’ve been waiting for this style since we first previewed it this past April. They look a bit more purple than expected in these new shots, so expect this drop to actually appear blue in person. We haven’t seen a new Asics GT-II colorway release since Ronnie Fieg’s ‘High Risk’ this past February. Given the overlap with this upcoming drop, it’s likely some of those who missed out on RF’s limited makeup will find a suitable replacement in this similarly blocked style. These switch purple to navy blue but keep the red Tiger stripes for an all-American look that plays well with its drop date moved up from August to July. We haven’t seen a new colorway since Ronnie Fieg unleashed the ‘High Risk’ edition as a Kith exclusive, so Asics GT-II fans’ hunger is growing. Luckily, we’ll have a handful of new styles to enjoy come Q3, so let’s examine these fall 2013 releases with a new set of images. In three forthcoming colorways, we see subtle colorblocking variations and a restrained tone in general, as this trio utilizes no more than four colors per pair. The great in-house colorways of Asics classic is confirmed through the Fall/Winter 2013 season for sure as we get a look at four great Asics GT-II releases slated to hit stores beginning in August. While the GT-II doesn’t have the instant grasp like those in the Gel Lyte fraternity, this slick runner has piqued the interest of newer Asics fans thanks to a string of clean colorways that will only continue later this year. So the nickname for Ronnie Fieg’s latest Asics collaborative project is ‘High Risk’–roughly the opposite of the probability of any pairs remaining available more than minutes after the release. One of the sickest examples on record of a ‘Toronto Raptors’ color scheme, this luxurious suede and leather Ronnie Fieg x Asics GT-II is the latest example in a long line of this guest designer’s low-key masterworks. They follow in the wake of November’s ‘Total Eclipse’ Gel Lyte IIIs; how does the ‘High Risk’ GT-II compare to that earlier example of a dark mix of these materials accented by red? Ronnie Fieg is back working on the Asics GT-II in the form of the Asics GT-II ‘High Risk’ previewed here. The sneaker is actually one that we first showed you just under a year ago, one that was presumably doomed to sample purgatory given the prolonged hiatus. Such is not the case, and the sneakers will indeed be releasing soon according to the Instagram of Fieg. The collab side of the Asics retro catalog is a little dry at the moment, with the only pair on the horizon of note being that uber bright Slam Jam release. At the moment the Asics Gel Lyte III is a little bit MIA in terms of inline pairs.
