It’s not too often these days that you find this much leather on a New Balance 1500. While the model has had plenty of leather iterations in the past, the 2014 pairs have more often than not been more focused on the suede and mesh equation. The new group has been dubbed the “Gentleman’s Choice” pack, and there’s an official callout to that moniker on the tongue, so you know it’s not been merely drummed up by the retailer here. The New Balance 1500 will likely always get a little bit more love in the UK than over here in the States. New Balance in general of course enjoys a better standing across the pond, but the Brits seem to hold a special kind of reverence for the 1500 as it’s a Flimby model and all. Again coming straight out of that factory is this new pair, which mixes up the materials a little bit by placing some ripstop down on the toe. Get a better look at them below and import them from Caliroots if you don’t want to wait for the US drop.

The New Balance 1500 has plenty of accolades – the sneaker remains one of the favorites from the Flimby factory, it was the first NB silhouette to break the $100 mark, and it was a favorite of President Bill Clinton during his time in office. If that’s not enough to win you over on the small-N silhouette, we don’t know what is. New for the shoes is the “Contradiction Pack”, a nickname that we’ve got a feeling isn’t official. Included in the group are two British born pairs that feature opposite blue/red suede touches. Get a look at them below and grab either of these New Balances now from Politics.

The most recent development for the New Balance 1500 brings it a construction update, but have no fear, fans of the classic suede and mesh.  Flimby’s still doing what they do best.  Check out this Made in England edition we’ve had our eyes on for a while through tradeshows and other previews, the M1500BRT whose latter initials stand for the burgundy, red and teal surrounding the white/grey base.  These and another pair that sort of flip the red/blue distribution are considered spring 2014 releases and that usually means first quarter, and sure enough, you can find this pair available now at Titolo.

New Balance 1500 Seamless

new balance 1500 seamless New Balance 1500 Seamless

The New Balance 1500 is a model that’s got some stitching more important than most, as the panels are pretty often put together right there at the historic Flimby factory. So what happens when you remove those stitches all together? You get a build that feels much sleeker than that of the historical NB 1500. The approach is sort of reminiscent of the “Sonic Weld” collection of New Balance 574s and the like from that debuted a couple years back, although this 1500 looks just a bit more teched out. Take another look after the break and watch for release info on this seamless pair of New Balances courtesy of Sneaker News.
