Sneaker News previewed five different UK-built colorways of the New Balance 991 back in May, and while they’re finally starting to arrive at retail, it seems one is destined for a fairly tight distribution. The foremost design from that quintet’s group shot turns out to be a PickYourShoes exclusive, as the NB M991RDT takes its dusty chocolate suede and mesh plus soft blue accents out of the mainstream. The second NAR (navy and red) edition is a fresh debut that shows just how powerful this particular blocking pattern really is, and you’ll find more photos of both after the jump below.

Late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was known for appearing on stage in a black turtleneck and jeans, and more often than not, one particular style of New Balance classic runner that’s only now getting its just due. For years, the New Balance 991 was considered by many old school running enthusiasts to occupy that purgatory in between straight vintage and modern technical builds, but especially now in a time when all the top new runners are done with myriad synthetics, the 991′s context becomes more clear. Pictured above is a grey suede design that manages to get quite a ways from the ‘Light Grey’ OG thanks to the dark mesh and ‘N’ along with the speckled midsole, and you’ll find more photos after the jump below before buying yours at Kith.

New Balance is apparently looking to make things as hard as possible for those attempting to budget an allotment for their irreproachable classic runners. The New Balance 991 in particular has been the focus of a ton of loving energy, as right off of a preview of five equally impressive pairs slated for Q3, we see this new pair pop up as an exclusive for the B&M showroom of a fashion designer known for his own success with premium vintage kicks. The New Balance 991 is one of that brand’s classics that’s about as close as you can get to ‘technical’ while still maintaining that iconic old school suede-and-mesh vibe, and though these latest pairs are more leather-leaning, they manage another way to connect with the wardrobe friendly NB steez. These NB991s were all ‘Made in UK’ with the Italian market in mind, but it looks like small numbers of these finely crafted designs will arrive at select retailers around the world. Each pair is slightly different in its blocking and material distribution, so have a closer look below, let us know which pair you’re most likely to buy and stick with Sneaker News for release info. via HS

Sneaker News showed you a glimpse at an upcoming New Balance M1300 earlier this month crafted in tonal navy suede and mesh. They bear a new ‘NB Classic’ tag just like a couple other of the upcoming releases on the same tongue that also denotes their point of origin, and that’s something shared in common by a few other soon-to-shelves retro runners. Also along for the ride in simple yet satisfying colorways is a brown NB998 and two pairs of the 991 model perhaps now most famous for being the favorite sneaker of late Apple head Steve Jobs. Each one is impeccable in its simplicity and they’ll all be available within the first quarter of 2012. via FNG
