Earlier today LeBron James went “Retro” for the first time in a while and brought out the Nike Zoom LeBron VI “Fairfax” for his return to Cleveland. The Ken Link-designed Nike Zoom LeBron VI was the last of the LeBrons before it moved onto the era of Jason Petrie – a move that made LeBrons much more popular by a noticeable degree and solidifed the Nike LeBron as the flagship name and model for Nike Basketball. With consumers chasing down LeBron releases at a faster rate than ever before and the recent unveiling of the Nike LeBron X Elite bringing in even more excitement to the LBJ label, we’d like to continue our “What Do You Think?” series by posing the thought of a Nike LeBron Retro. Is the timing perfect? Is it too early?

As if we needed another reason to hate on the Duke Blue Devils, Duke guard Tyler Thornton gave us an inside look at the sneaker rotation currently sported by the ACC powerhouse in this great video which features a sea of Royal Blue and White LeBrons, KDs, and Kobes. Thornton himself is rocking some Military IVs, but later shows us his rotation of the Air Foamposite One “Royal”, Nike Huarache Free Bball 2012, and Nike Air Flight One, but that might be bested by Senior Forward Mason Plumlee’s impressive stash of the Air Zoom Generation, Zoom 2k3, and Air Zoom GP II – three great early-2000′s models. On top of that, we’re given a rare look at the Duke sneaker storage closet, which Thornton poignantly describes as a “sneakerhead’s dream”. Check out some of the highlights as well as the full video below!

NIKE LEBRON WEEK
The recently unveiled Nike LeBron X puts things into perspective: did Nike, upon signing LeBron James in 2003, expect this much success and fortune? Undeniably the most significant line of signature sneakers next to the Air Jordan, the Nike LeBron has endured a decade in a sneaker cult that has experienced a meteoric rise to the mainstream pop culture. The ‘LeBron’ is as important as the ‘Air Jordan’ these days, so now’s a perfect time to look back at some of the most memorable LeBron releases of the last decade. We might as well start with LeBron’s debut model – the Nike Air Zoom Generation.
The Air Zoom Generation made its debut in November of 2003 during LeBron’s first regular-season NBA game. He quickly lived up to the hype and was a very close selection to the 2004 NBA All-Star Game. Instead, he participated in the Rookie Challenge, debuting this rugged workboot-styled ‘Wheat’ colorway of Air Zoom Generation. This was a semi-limited release that hit Nike Basketball retailers world-wide, and although it doesn’t have that skyrocketing value, the ‘Wheat’ is one of the most visually distinct LeBrons to have ever released. More of tonight’s Classics Revisited is right ahead, so take a look and stay tuned for more LeBron heat coming you way this week!

Designer Aaron Cooper had the high-pressure task of penning the first chapter of what Nike had projected to be a life-time partnership. Today, the Nike LeBron series is a certified hit, and it all started with Cooper’s Nike Zoom Generation of 2003; the sneaker was constructed inside-out and built on a foundation of comfort, while the design centered around the “modern soldier”, as LeBron transcended Force, Flight, and Uptempo altogether. The finished product was a sleek field-boot style that drew inspiration from the massive Hummer H2 SUV, and upon putting them on for the first time, LeBron stated the shoes were “the most comfortable shoes [he's] worn”. Study up on the first of the Nike LeBron saga below and let us know where the Zoom Generation ranks among your favorite all-time LeBrons!

Before LeBron James played a single game in the NBA, Nike hit him with one of the most lucrative sneaker contracts in history and quickly got to work a first signature sneaker for the future superstar. Inspired by the H2 Hummer, the Air Zoom Generation made its debut on the night of October 29th, 2003 in the national TV spotlight against the Sacramento Kings. Despite losing in his NBA debut, LeBron put up some incredible numbers; 25 points, 9 dishes, 6 boards, and 4 steals. What we’ve witnessed from LeBron James and Nike over the last nine seasons has been outstanding, and this LeBron 9 iD ‘First Game’ seen here ‘book-ends’ the Nike LeBron saga to date. Adopting a white upper with the red weave pattern and a navy blue midsole, the colorway and concept devised by zach13g on NT is quite simply one of the best we’ve seen in the LeBron 9. More shots in the gallery below, so take a good look and let us know if you think these are best iDs you’ve seen yet!

The Second Round of the 2012 NBA Playoffs is mid-way through and we’ve already seen an impressive library of sneakers from the games biggest stars and even the lesser-known sneakerhead ballers. The two names to highlight this weekend are both from Los Angeles – Kobe Bryant and young swingman Nick Young of the Clippers; Kobe shed ‘Elite’ by wearing a White/Purple/Green PE of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII, which he followed with the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Christmas’, but Nick might’ve done him one better by wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Royal’ during Sunday’s match-up against the Spurs, which followed an unprecedented appearance of the Nike Air Zoom Generation in the ‘First Game’ colorway. Of course, there’s much more to see, like Eric Bledsoe’s Metallic Red Foams, LeBron’s Black/Gold Elites, and Paul George’s sick Fade Option Kobe VII iD, so check it all out below and let us know who rocked the best kicks! LeBron James has come a long way from his first NBA game against the Sacramento Kings in November 2003…or has he? The doubters and critics were out in full force from the moment LeBron was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers to his first regular season game as an eighteen-year-old Pro, but it’s not like the kid was lost in the woods – he dropped 25 points, grabbed 6 boards, dished out 9 assists, swiped 4 steals, and his numbers today aren’t that much different. The guy was simply a star from the moment he touched a basketball, and a hefty bidding war between Nike and adidas resulted the Air Zoom Generation (design inspired by the H2 Hummer), with a slew of releases and special edition colorways hitting stores through the season. We stumbled upon a cluster of LBJ autographed Air Zoom Generations in the White/Black/Red, the Wheat ‘All-Star’, and the LA ‘All-Star’ PE so check out the gallery below and pick up the White/Black/Red, Wheat ‘All-Star’, and LA ‘All-Star’ pairs right now from abas15 on eBay.
