One positive side effect of being a sneakerhead is learning about global cultures through various themes applied to new releases. This latest Reebok Insta Pump Fury is a perfect example, and it is timed just right with a US release right between Mother’s and Father’s Days. The koi print Insta Pump Fury is inspired by Japan’s Children’s Day, whose dad-black and mom-red traditional coloring is applied in tribute to the creators of new life. These hit a couple weeks back in Japan but now a select few stateside shops have limited numbers, so check them out below and if you like what you see, act fast to get yous from stores like Feature.

There’s a rather historical presence in this upcoming release of the Reebok Insta Pump Fury from the Reebok Reserve Collection. Featuring details of koi fish (or carp) and cherry blossoms, the connection to Japan is rather clear, and with such a great infusion of these dominating details, this might be one of the best Insta Pump releases of the year. What’s more is that the release date of May 4th coincides with the annual “Golden Week” in Japan, which includes the celebration of various holidays such as Children’s Day. That holiday in particular is marked by the flying of Koinobori, which are like flying flags/banners of koi fish (black represents father, red represents mother), so there could be a connection there. Check out the details below and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more details.

When stores to collaborations with sneaker brands, the brainstorming goes wild and the desire to bring in inspiration from some of the most iconic symbols of the generation runs amok. However, sometimes the concept in its entirety can’t be fully done due to legal issues with other companies, so for the fourth overall partnership between Reebok and Sneakersnstuff, they’re letting us put the pieces together and figure out what they were trying to get at (furry pony hair with black dots – think about it).
With that said, we have a detailed gallery of this great release, which features black polka dotes on a white upper on the classic Pump Fury model, with “SNS” emblems on the heel and on the Pump on the tongue. The “Legal Issues” will become available Thursday, April 25th, at Sneakersnstuff and other select Reebok Certified retailers like Packer Shoes, Hanon Shop, Solebox, Colette, Mita Sneakers, Foot patrol, Burn Rubber, Atmos, Highs & Lows, Vault, Livestock, BTNC, Limited Edition, Bodega, Crooked Tongues, Kasina and Shoe Gallery.

The Insta Pump Fury continues to be Reebok’s collaborative showcase, showing up once more in an animal print design as contributed by a Japanese sneaker boutique. This newest mita sneakers x Reebok Insta Pump Fury can be seen as something of a sequel to their more straightforward leopard edition that released a little over a year ago. This time around, mita adds a micro polka dot pattern on top, leaving the feline elements subdued to the point that they’re mostly just adding a bit of tonal depth until you get up close. Contrast stitching seems appropriate on this black/white design with royal tongue and heel loops; have a closer look after the jump and let us know how these compare to other Insta Pumps and printed kicks, animal or otherwise, and stick with Sneaker News in case they make an appearance here in the US.
