Kevin Garnett Went Back To Minnesota – Now He Needs To Go Back To Nike

Kevin Garnett‘s most recognizable signature sneaker with the Swoosh is returning with the misfortune of not even bearing his namesake. You know the drill here – it’s that awkward contractual obligation that’s given us adidas Kobe retros under anonymous names like Crazy 1 and Crazy 8, and now KG’s fallen under that category thanks to ditching Nike over a decade ago. But with prodigal son’s return to Minnesota to help mentor a talented young team at the end of his career, a move back home that many had written off given the way KG left things when he was traded to Boston in chase of that elusive championship for spare parts, it’s only right that Nike jump in to put the bow on top. The Nike Air Garnett 3 (known here as the Nike Air 3 LE) was one of The Big Ticket’s finest offerings and personified the late 90s thanks to the combination of a tumbled leather, and bulky visible air unit, but the true calling card was an Air Max Plus-like gradient throughout that never failed to turn heads. The OG colorway retro’d back in 2009 for a low-key 10th anniversary special, and is back and as glorious as ever now. As Garnett transitions from player to upper-management for the Timberwolves, it’d only be right if he forgot his overseas brand affiliations and gave one last run in these. More photos below.
