Today, the city of Boston welcomed the world’s fastest and durable runners for the Boston Marathon, and although the event is officially sponsored by adidas, it was Nike that got the proper exposure in the world of running. The three top finishers for both men and women are Nike athletes, with Oregon native Jordan Hasay finishing third in her first-ever career marathon. Nike has made headlines recently with their BREAKING2 initiative and the sick sneakers, such as the Zoom VaporFly Elite.
Nike’s BREAKING2 aims to play a role in breaking the two-hour marathon barrier; Geoffrey Kirui and Galen Rupp, the first and second overall finishers, complete the marathon in just over two hours and nine minutes.
